Goal: To evaluate long-term outcomes of Better Together Physician Coaching, a digital life-coaching program to improve resident well-being.
Methods: We performed a secondary analysis of survey data from the pilot program implementation between January 2021 and June 2022. An intention-to-treat analysis was completed for baseline versus post-6 months and baseline versus post-12 months for all outcome measures.

The bacterial pathogen forms multicellular communities known as biofilms in which cells are held together by an extracellular matrix principally composed of repurposed cytoplasmic proteins and extracellular DNA. These biofilms assemble during infections or under laboratory conditions by growth on medium containing glucose, but the intracellular signal for biofilm formation and its downstream targets were unknown. Here, we present evidence that biofilm formation is triggered by a drop in the levels of the second messenger cyclic-di-AMP.

According to recent studies, the pathophysiology of DM may involve factors other than traditional glycemic control, such as electrolyte balance and thiamin status. Therefore, this study evaluated the relationship between sodium and potassium and serum thiamin levels in patients with type 1 and type 2 DM.

Therefore, this study evaluated the correlation between urea and creatinine levels and thiamin levels in patients with type 1 DM (T1DM) and type 2 DM (T2DM). Methods This multi-center, cross-sectional study was conducted at diabetic outpatient clinics in Karachi.

Neurobiological models assert that the mind can be understood in terms of genetics, chemistry, and neuronal circuits. Growing evidence suggests that clinical deployment of neurobiological models of illness may have unintended adverse effects on patient attitudes, public perception, provider empathy, and the effectiveness of psychiatric treatment.

Methods: Survey responses were received from 1017 female identifying trainees from 26 graduate medical education institutions across the United States.
Importance: Physician burnout disproportionately affects women physicians and begins in training. Professional coaching may improve well-being, but generalizable evidence is lacking.
Objective: To assess the generalizability of a coaching program (Better Together Physician Coaching) in a national sample of women physician trainees.
Objective: Naturalness preference can influence important health decisions. However, the literature lacks a reliable way to measure individual differences in naturalness preferences. We fill this gap by designing and validating a scale to measure individual differences in naturalness preference.

March 2023
Purpose: To describe the clinicopathological features, and subtypes of metaplastic breast cancer (MpBC) in Pakistan and further to understand its response to treatment, including region-specific survival outcomes.
Patients And Methods: This retrospective cohort study was conducted at two private tertiary care hospitals in Karachi, Pakistan. Our selection criteria included a total of 215 patients who were diagnosed with MpBC at an age older than 18 years from 1994 to 2021.
Cartilaginous fishes are renowned for a keen sense of smell, a reputation based on behavioral observations and supported by the presence of large and morphologically complex olfactory organs. At the molecular level, genes belonging to the four families coding for most olfactory chemosensory receptors in other vertebrates have been identified in a chimera and a shark, but it was unknown whether they actually code for olfactory receptors in these species. Here, we describe the evolutionary dynamics of these gene families in cartilaginous fishes using genomes of a chimera, a skate, a sawfish, and eight sharks.

Suitable landfill site selection (LSS) requires the consideration of many diverse criteria. This study uses various environmental, social and economic criteria in a sophisticated multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) within the geographical information system (GIS) and aims to provide a scientific basis for the identification of suitable landfill sites which can efficiently be used for MSW in one of the most urbanized cities (Peshawar district) in Pakistan.

The correlation between HPV8-induced changes in transcriptional output in the stem cell compartment remains poorly understood. To further understand the oncogenic pathways underlying skin tumour formation we examined the gene expression network in skin tumours of K14-HPV8-CER mice and compared the differentially expressed genes (DEG) with those of the Lrig1-EGFP-ires-CreERT2 mice.

To manage this demand, we will need to consider sustainable strategies to expand the reach of our sleep medicine workforce. The Referral Coordination Initiative (RCI) takes a team-based approach to streamlining care for new specialty care referrals by ) incorporating registered nurses into initial decision-making, ) integrating administrative staff for coordination, and ) sharing resources across facilities.

We (A) optimized test conditions and (B) implemented pool testing of respiratory swabs into SARS-CoV-2 diagnostics.

In the past we already delved into the mechanisms involved in keratinocyte invasion, showing that the viral E7 oncoprotein is a key player that drives invasion of basal keratinocytes controlled by the extracellular protein fibronectin. To unravel further downstream effects in E7 expressing keratinocytes we now aimed at characterizing gene and protein/phosphoprotein alterations to narrow down on key cellular targets of HPV8-E7.

This study evaluates temporal changes of groundwater quality for 2012 and 2019, its relation to Landuse/landcover, and its impact on Peshawar's residents (study area), Pakistan. A total of 105 and 112 groundwater samples were collected from tube wells in 2012 and 2019.

Methods: From June 2019 to May 2020, the authors recruited a sample of patients for semi-structured interviews, including patients who had 1 of 3 types of telehealth encounters in sleep medicine: in-clinic video, home-based video, and telephone.
Background: The volume of specialty care referrals often outstrips specialists' capacity. The Department of Veterans Affairs launched a system of referral coordination to augment our workforce, empowering registered nurses to use decision support tools to triage specialty referrals. While task shifting may improve access, there is limited evidence regarding the relative quality of nurses' triage decisions to ensure such management is safe.

Methods: Our medical center piloted a nurse triage program for sleep medicine referrals. Using a sleep specialist-designed decision-making tool, nurses triaged patients referred for initial sleep studies to either home sleep apnea test (HSAT) or in-laboratory polysomnography (PSG).
The human papillomavirus type 8 (HPV8) is associated with skin cancer development. The goal of this study was to investigate the effects of HPV8 oncoproteins on cellular gene expression and the identification of key regulators. We performed affymetrix microarray analyses to identify differentially expressed genes and common sequence motifs and identified Sp1/3 binding sites as being crucial.
