Individuals with homozygous laminA/C p.R527C mutations manifest a severe form of Mandibuloacral dysplasia-(MAD) and exhibit overlapping progeroid symptoms, for which the underlying molecular pathology remains unknown. Herein, it is shown that MAD patients achieved inflammaging with different pro-inflammatory cytokines compared to progeria-(HGPS) patient.

Parkinson's disease is considered an advancing neurodegenerative disorder with unknown causes, and its association with some risk factors, including aging, family history, and exposure to chemicals, makes it the second most common occurring neurodegenerative disorder throughout the world with increasing prevalence. Parkinson's disease is associated with slow movement, rigidity, tremors, imbalance, depression, anxiety, cognitive impairment, orthostasis, hyperhidrosis, sleep disorders, pain, and sensory disturbances. In recent decades, there has been a rise in research on the development of effective and potential therapies for the treatment of Parkinson's disease.

Background: This study delves into the intricate landscape of oral cancer, a global concern with a high incidence in Asian countries. We focus on oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), primarily driven by the consumption of betel nut and its derivatives. OSCC often arises from premalignant lesions like oral submucous fibrosis (OSF).

Introduction: Safe practice in medicine and dentistry has been a global priority area in which large knowledge gaps are present.Patient safety strategies aim at preventing unintended damage to patients that can be caused by healthcare practitioners. One of the components of patient safety is safe clinical practice.

Cardiovascular disease is currently the largest cause of mortality and disability globally, surpassing communicable diseases, and atherosclerosis is the main contributor to this epidemic. Aging is intimately linked to atherosclerosis development and progression, however, the mechanism of aging in atherosclerosis is not well known. To emphasize the significant research on the involvement of senescent cells in atherosclerosis, we begin by outlining compelling evidence that indicates various types of senescent cells and SASP factors linked to atherosclerotic phenotypes.

A novel and rapid therapeutic approach is the treatment of human breast cancer by enhancing the host's immune system. In initial findings, program death one (PD-1) and program cell death ligand one (PD-L1) showed positive results towards solid tumors, but tumor relapse and drug resistance are the major concerns. Breast cancer therapy has been transformed by the advent of immune checkpoint blockades (ICBs).

Due to the narrow therapeutic window and high mortality of ischemic stroke, it is of great significance to investigate its diagnosis and therapy. We employed weighted gene coexpression network analysis (WGCNA) to ascertain gene modules related to stroke and used the maSigPro R package to seek the time-dependent genes in the progression of stroke. Three machine learning algorithms were further employed to identify the feature genes of stroke.

Quercetin is the major polyphenolic flavonoid that belongs to the class called flavanols. It is found in many foods, such as green tea, cranberry, apple, onions, asparagus, radish leaves, buckwheat, blueberry, broccoli, and coriander. It occurs in many different forms, but the most abundant quercetin derivatives are glycosides and ethers, namely, Quercetin 3--glycoside, Quercetin 3-sulfate, Quercetin 3-glucuronide, and Quercetin 3'-metylether.

During ischemic stroke, higher glucose level linked worse outcomes were reported even in patients without pre-existing diabetes. Evidence suggest that such worse stroke outcomes were mainly due to production of reactive, toxic glucose metabolites that expands oxidative damage inside the brain. As a consequence of high oxidative stress, microvasculature structures and tight junctions compromised their functionally, infarct volume expands and brain edema exacerbates.

In this article, a single-layer metasurface based reflector design is proposed for linear-to-linear cross-polarization conversion in microwave frequency range. The unit-cell of the proposed design consists of triple-arrow resonant design printed on a grounded FR4 substrate. Excellent cross-conversion is achieved over a broad frequency range (8.

Purpose: Obesity has been associated with an increased risk of respiratory complications and other systemic illnesses. Respiratory dynamics in an obese patient, combined with modified lung physiology of ARDS, present a significant challenge in managing obese patients with ARDS. Many physicians think of obesity as a relative contraindication to ECMO.

Area efficient and high speed forward error correcting codes decoder are the demand of many high speed next generation communication standards. This paper explores a low complexity decoding algorithm of low density parity check codes, called the min-sum iterative construction a posteriori probability (MS-IC-APP), for this purpose. We performed the error performance analysis of MS-IC-APP for a (648,1296) regular QC-LDPC code and proposed an area and throughput optimized hardware implementation of MS-IC-APP.

Stochastic computing has recently gained attention due to its low hardware complexity and better fault tolerance against soft errors. However, stochastic computing based circuits suffer from different errors which affect the output accuracy of these circuits. In this paper, an accurate and area-efficient stochastic computing based digital finite impulse response filter is designed.

Ranolazine is a well-known antianginal drug, that was first licensed for use in the United States in 2006. It was objectively shown to improve exercise capacity and to lengthen the time to symptom onset in patients with coronary artery disease. The most commonly reported side effects of ranolazine include dizziness, headache, constipation, and nausea.

Background: Although the incidence and prevalence of atelectatic lung collapse is unknown, such events are common among inpatients, and there are no guidelines for optimally instituting bronchoscopic techniques. The aim of this study was to evaluate the outcomes of patients with complete or near-complete lung collapse managed via interventional flexible fibreoptic bronchoscopy or a conservative approach.

Methods: Retrospective analysis of all adult patients admitted to BronxCare Health System between January 2011 and October 2017 with a diagnosis of lung collapse/atelectasis.

Vitamin D deficiency is an emerging health concern around the world, highly prevalent in south Asian population, despite abundant sunlight. In Pakistan, all age groups are vulnerable to Vitamin D deficiency including pregnant women. This systematic review aimed to determine the pattern of Vitamin D deficiency among Pakistani pregnant women as well as exploring the causes and possible interventions that have had a substantial effect on improving the vitamin D level.
