  • OpenAI's ChatGPT was used to generate innovative ideas for rhinoplasty-related patents, showing its potential application in aesthetic surgery.
  • A total of 40 patents were created by ChatGPT and compared with 42 existing patents, revealing that detailed prompts led to more relevant innovations, particularly in postoperative tools and surgical planning.
  • The study concludes that while ChatGPT shows promise in generating surgical innovations, collaboration with experienced surgeons is essential for translating these ideas into practical applications, and future AI improvements will enhance this process.

  • One of these complications, TMJ ankylosis (TMJA), can affect how kids eat and grow, making life harder for them and their families.
  • Doctors need to talk to families about these risks and possible solutions, as shown in the case of a 17-year-old with a severe jaw issue and multiple surgeries who needed special replacements to fix his TMJ problems.

Chondrolaryngoplasty is a surgical procedure that reduces a prominent thyroid cartilage. Demand for chondrolaryngoplasty has significantly increased over recent years in transgender women and nonbinary individuals and has been shown to alleviate gender dysphoria and improve quality of life. When performing chondrolaryngoplasty, surgeons must carefully balance the desire for maximal cartilage reduction with the potential for damage to surrounding structures (ie, the vocal cords) that may result because of overaggressive or imprecise resection.
