The increasingly concerning issue of water pollution caused by untreated leachate necessitates the implementation of effective wastewater treatment methods. This study addresses the crucial issue of landfill leachate treatment through an innovative and environmentally friendly approach that integrates electrolysis with palm-shell activated carbon contactors. The efficacy of an integrated process for pollutants removal was assessed involving electrolysis with aluminum and iron electrodes, activated carbon contactors with varying bed depths, and the influence of salinity.

This study highlighted the influence of molasses residue (MR) on the anaerobic treatment of cow manure (CM) at various organic loading and mixing ratios of these two substrates. This study compares the performance of the Hollow Fiber (HF) and Flat Sheet (FS) types of membrane bioreactors (MBRs) for the treatment of food and beverage (F&B) industry wastewater in a pilot-scale study of a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). HF and FS membrane configurations were evaluated at two different Mixed Liquor Suspended Solid (MLSS) levels: 6000 mg/L and 12,000 mg/L. Cattle slaughterhouses generate wastewater that is rich in organic contaminant and nutrients, which is considered as high strength wastewater with a high potential for energy recovery. Work was undertaken to evaluate the efficiency of the 12 L laboratory scale conventional and a modified upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactors (conventional, R1 and modified, R2), for treatment of cattle slaughterhouse wastewater (CSWW) under mesophilic condition (35 ± 1 °C).
