The achievement of recommended calorie targets for parenteral nutrition in pediatric patients receiving treatment in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) in Indonesia remains suboptimal, necessitating cautious implementation of this nutritional intervention alone. The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and partial parenteral nutrition (PPN) in achieving the calorie requirements of pediatric patients receiving treatments in the PICU. A cross-sectional study was conducted in the PICU at H.

Background: The use of fat grafting has expanded to include cell and tissue regeneration, necessitating investigations to ensure the viability of stromal and adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ASCs) within the transferred fat parcels. This study explored the impact of harvesting technique and centrifugation on the viability of stromal cells and ASCs in lipoaspirate.
Methods: Fat was harvested from patients undergoing fat grafting using 2 types of liposuction cannula: (A) a 3-mm blunt tip cannula with 3 smooth holes and (B) a 2.
Objectives: This study aims to determine the effect of a toll-like receptor 7/8 (TLR7/8) ligand on the motility of putative X- and Y-chromosome-bearing sperm in rams.
Materials And Methods: Sperm from three fertile rams were incubated with tris-citrate buffer containing 0 to 0.9 μM resiquimod (a TLR7/8 ligand) that affects only the X chromosome sperm.
Introduction: Bleeding after cardiac surgeries holds risk of mortality and morbidity in pediatrics. This systematic review aimed to evaluate postoperative blood loss and blood transfusion requirements for pediatric patients undergoing cardiac surgery with fresh frozen plasma (FFP) priming.
Methods: In 2024, the search reviewed four databases on randomized trials (RCTs) examining the impact of FFP prime intervention on 24-h postoperative blood loss and transfusion requirements in pediatric cardiac surgeries.
This study introduces an innovative magnetic-based multifunctional anti-cancer drug carrier aiming to enhance the efficacy of curcumin in cancer therapy. The research investigates the potential of Graphene Quantum Dots (GQDs) as a curcumin drug delivery system for inhibiting cancer growth. GQDs with a particle diameter below 10 nm were synthesized via hydrothermal and Hummers methods, exhibiting homogeneity and crystalline structure according to AFM and XRD analyses.

Data shows that agricultural by-products have the potential to be utilized because they contain antioxidant compounds. This systematic review study aims to identify and assess the antioxidant activity of agricultural by-products through various extraction methods.

UCMSCs were reprogrammed to iPSCs using Yamanaka factor bearing episomal plasmids. SCIKFi001-B exhibited pluripotency, had typical iPSC morphology and didn't retain any residual episomal plasmid. Although karyotyping showed chromosomal translocation, this abnormality seemed to have little impact on the functionality of SCIKFi001-B since it retained its ability to differentiate to three-germ layer.

The condition is caused by mutation in the Lamin A/C () gene encoding Type-A nuclear lamin proteins involved in nuclear integrity, epigenetic regulation of gene expression, and differentiation. The molecular mechanisms of the disease are not completely understood, and there are no definitive treatments to reverse progression or prevent mortality.

The study involves three stages. The first step focuses on the characteristics of YSZ/polysilazane as the TBC, which is characterized using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), and Thermal Gravimetric Analysis (TGA).

To minimize environmental harm caused by ruminants' CH production, natural substances can be used to suppress it. Chitosan from crustacean sources had been known to obstruct CH generation in the rumen.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of EDTA, novel silver citrate, and chitosan nanoparticles as a final irrigation solution on the mechanical properties of root canal dentine, namely the flexural strength and elastic modulus.
Methods: Thirty-two intact, single, and straight roots, with no caries, no cracks, and no restoration of premolars, were assigned into four groups of 8 teeth each.

Microbial community, GHG emission, dry matter (DM) loss, and anaerobic fermentation were analyzed using PacBio single-molecule real-time and anaerobic fermentation system. The epiphytic microbial diversity of fresh rice straw was extremely rich and contained certain nutrients and minerals.

However, oxidative stress during storage reduces the quality of sperm. Melatonin supplementation in semen storage medium has not been well studied, but it has been shown to protect cells from oxidative stress.

Blood samples, such as whole blood, plasma and serum are commonly used for most clinical laboratory examinations. D-dimer parameters are frequently analysed in haematology laboratories and serve as biomarkers for coagulation activation and fibrinolysis.

Tropical soils are a hotspot of animal biodiversity and may sensitively respond to microclimate changes, but these responses remain unexplored. To address this knowledge gap, here we investigated seasonal fluctuations in density and community composition of Collembola, a dominant group of soil invertebrates, in rainforest, and in rubber and oil palm plantations in Jambi province (Sumatra, Indonesia).

Introduction: Emergence delirium (ED) is a transient irritative and dissociative state that arises after the cessation of anaesthesia in patients who do not respond to calming measures. There are many risk factors for ED, but the exact cause and underlying mechanism have not been determined because the definition of ED is still unclear in consensus. This study aims to determine ED incidence, identify ED risk factors and external validation of Watcha, Cravero and expert assessment to Pediatric Anesthesia Emergence Delirium (PAED) scoring system in ED prediction.
