Piercing sucking pests attacking sweet pepper plants cause significant losses to its yield. Considering the undesirable effects of synthetic pesticides, field studies were conducted to evaluate the impact of new pesticides against piercing sucking insect pests of sweet pepper, as well as, their effects on some predators and pepper yield along two seasons of 2021-2022. The obtained results indicated that all tested pesticides effectively suppressed the sucking insect populations (aphids, white fly, thrips) 1,7,14 and 21 days after treatment along two sprays during two seasons.

Background: The precise origin of Pre-eclampsia (PE) remains elusive. Multiple pieces of evidence support the existence of hypoxia in PE. MiRNA-210 (miR-210), which is induced by Hypoxia-Inducible Factor-1α (HIF-1α) during hypoxia, is one of the most hypoxia sensitive miRNAs.

Objectives: Apoptosis or programmed cell death represents a mechanism by which tumor cells with DNA damage can be deleted. Bcl-2 and p53 gene products have been both linked to apoptosis. Bcl-2 plays a role as an inhibitor of apoptosis that may extend the viability of cells containing genetic alterations and facilitate tumor progression.

A coagulant component has been purified from Cerastes cerastes venom, using gel filtration on a Sephadex G 100 (fine) column followed by chromatography on a Bio-Rex 70 column. This compound had a proteolytic effect and could coagulate human plasma deficient in factor VIII or (VIII + IX) with the formation of a firm clot. It could also clot plasma deficient in factor X, but the clot formed was soft and not complete.

Cercarial toxin, a protein purified from Leiurus quinquestriatus venom and toxic to Schistosoma mansoni cercariae, was examined for its effects on frog twitch muscle fibres. In concentrations of 3.4-12 microM the toxin, after a delay of several minutes, produced a slowly developing depolarization of the resting membrane and high frequency miniature endplate potentials associated with spontaneous firing of muscle fibre action potentials and twitching.
