Invasive lobular carcinoma of the breast (ILC) are typically estrogen receptor α (ER)-positive and present with biomarkers of anti-estrogen sensitive disease, yet patients with ILC face uniquely poor long-term outcomes with increased recurrence risk, suggesting endocrine response and ER function are unique in ILC. We previously found specifically in ILC cells that ER is co-regulated by the DNA repair protein Mediator of DNA Damage Checkpoint 1 (MDC1). This novel MDC1 activity, however, was associated with dysfunction in the canonical DNA repair activity of MDC1, but absent typical features of DNA repair deficiency.

Methods: We conducted a randomized, double-blind trial of active TENS compared with placebo TENS at the time of endometrial biopsy. The primary outcome was pain measured on a 0- to 100-mm visual analog scale immediately after biopsy, with secondary outcomes including satisfaction and tolerability of TENS and pain scores at other procedural time points.
Health care insurance claims are an increasingly common data source for health outcomes research. While researchers have successfully used several claims data sources for many obstetric and gynecologic questions, the use of claims data for abortion and contraception research poses a number of challenges. In this update on the state of the science in identifying abortion in claims data, we review claims data generally, describe commonly used claims data sources, and detail specific reasons why abortion may be underestimated in claims even when employing best practices.

OPREVENT2, an obesity prevention trial in 6 NA communities, included a worksite component that incorporated nutrition and physical activity educational media, competitions, tastes tests, and coffee station makeovers.

The present study examined associations between perceived parenting, brain activity and connectivity, and depression symptoms in adolescents from Brazil, a middle-income country (MIC). Analyses included 100 adolescents who underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging scanning while completing a face matching task.

Children are especially vulnerable to air pollution exposure, as their brains and bodies are still developing. The objective of this systematic review was to synthesize available empirical evidence on the associations between air pollution exposure and brain outcomes in developmental samples (ages 0-18 years old).

To be able to directly measure the 2γ decay rate in the low-energy regime below the electron-positron pair-creation threshold, we combined the isochronous mode of a storage ring with Schottky resonant cavities. The newly developed technique can be applied to isomers with excitation energies down to ∼100 keV and half-lives as short as ∼10 ms.

Design: We conducted exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis (EFA/CFA) to identify a factor structure for ten drug acquisition and use behaviors. We then evaluated alternative structural equation models incorporating the identified factors, adding demographic and psychosocial attributes as predictors of past-year opioid overdose.
The biological mechanisms underlying the onset of major depressive disorder (MDD) have predominantly been studied in adult populations from high-income countries, despite the onset of depression typically occurring in adolescence and the majority of the world's adolescents living in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC). Taking advantage of a unique adolescent sample in an LMIC (Brazil), this study aimed to identify biological pathways characterizing the presence and increased risk of depression in adolescence, and sex-specific differences in such biological signatures. We collected blood samples from a risk-stratified cohort of 150 Brazilian adolescents (aged 14-16 years old) comprising 50 adolescents with MDD, 50 adolescents at high risk of developing MDD but without current MDD, and 50 adolescents at low risk of developing MDD and without MDD (25 females and 25 males in each group).

Objectives: We categorize FI patients into four groups based on the location of lesion in neuromuscular circuitry of EAS to determine if there are differences with regards to fecal incontinence symptoms severity (FISI) score, age, BMI, obstetrical history, and anal sphincter muscle damage.
Methods: Female patients (151) without any neurological symptoms, who had undergone high-resolution manometry, anal sphincter EMG, and 3D ultrasound imaging of the anal sphincter were assessed.

Background: Review of emergency department (ED) revisits with admission allows the identification of improvement opportunities. Applying a health equity lens to revisits may highlight potential disparities in care transitions. Universal definitions or practicable frameworks for these assessments are lacking.

Pregnancy Medicaid has higher income limits for eligibility than traditional Medicaid but only provides coverage during and for a limited time period after pregnancy. Our objective was to determine the association between type of Medicaid (traditional Medicaid and pregnancy Medicaid) on receipt of outpatient care during the perinatal period.

We used baseline and two-year follow-up data from the Adolescent Brain and Cognitive Development study (15844 observations; 52% from boys; age 9-13). Pubertal development was measured with parent-reported Pubertal Development Scale, and DHEA, testosterone, and estradiol levels.

Methods: A parallel arm, randomized controlled trial was conducted among a sample of healthcare professionals. Participants were randomized to either an elimination diet with 5 sessions of functional medicine health coaching support (intervention arm) or a self-guided elimination diet (control arm).

Background: People with substance use disorders (SUDs) frequently use emergency department (ED) services. Despite evidence demonstrating that post-discharge SUD treatment linkage effectively reduces the number of ED re-presentations, relatively few hospitals have implemented interventions to identify and connect patients with SUDs to appropriate care. ED-based peer recovery support specialist (PRSS) interventions have emerged as a promising approach for hospitals, but more research is needed to understand the extent to which these interventions meet the needs of patients who present to the ED for different reasons and with various underlying concerns.

Prior research has demonstrated users of illicit opioids are concerned about fentanyl exposure and overdose, but the strategies they report using to detect fentanyl's presence lack empirical support. This study compares self-report and biologically detected fentanyl use and investigates overdose risk and risk reduction behaviors among a sample of high-risk people who use opioids.
