Dielectric Modulated Nanotube Tunnel Field-Effect Transistor with Core-Shell Cavity as a Label-Free Biosensor: Proposal and Analysis.

Dielectric Modulated Field-Effect Transistors (DMFETs) have emerged as promising candidates for label-free bioanalyte detection. However, the inherent short-channel effects in conventional DMFETs increase their static power dissipation significantly and limit their scalability and sensitivity. Therefore, FETs based on alternate conduction mechanism such as tunneling (TFETs), which are immune to the short-channel effects, appear to be a lucrative alternative to the MOSFETs for biosensing application.

IgG memory B cells expressing IL4R and FCER2 are associated with atopic diseases.

Background: Atopic diseases are characterized by IgE antibody responses that are dependent on cognate CD4 T cell help and T cell-produced IL-4 and IL-13. Current models of IgE cell differentiation point to the role of IgG memory B cells as precursors of pathogenic IgE plasma cells. The goal of this work was to identify intrinsic features of memory B cells that are associated with IgE production in atopic diseases.

KIBRA connects Hippo signaling and cancer.

The Hippo signaling pathway is a tumor suppressor pathway that plays an important role in tissue homeostasis and organ size control. KIBRA is one of the many upstream regulators of the Hippo pathway. It functions as a tumor suppressor by positively regulating the core Hippo kinase cascade.

Cerebral abscess: a rare complication of flexible bronchoscopy.

Infectious complications associated with flexible bronchoscopy are rare and mostly because of inadequate cleaning techniques. Transient bacteremia after flexible bronchoscopy has been observed; however, a clinically significant illness has been reported infrequently. We report the case of a 53-year-old man with poorly controlled diabetes who developed cerebral abscess 28 days after a flexible bronchoscopy was performed to evaluate a pneumonic consolidation of the left upper lobe of the lung.

Facile and sensitive spectrophotometric determination of synthetic pyrithroids in their formulations, water and grain samples.

A novel reagent was introduced for the facile and sensitive spectrophotometric determination of synthetic pyrethroids in their formulations (fenvalerate, cypermethrin and decamethrin), water and grain samples. These methods were based on the hydrolysis of synthetic pyrethroids under the alkaline conditions to form respective aldehyde groups. These groups were condensation with 3-methyl-2-benzothiazolinone hydrochloride (MBTH) to yield color derivatives having lambda(max) at 520 nm for fenvalerate, 516 nm for cypermethrin and 512 nm for decamethrin.

Conformational changes in the IgG molecule of lepromatous sera using laser Raman spectroscopy.

In the present work we report our studies on IgG separated from the serum of lepromatous patients and non-lepromatous leprosy cases using Laser Raman Spectroscopy. Striking spectral changes in LL cases have been observed in the following special regions: (a) the amide I and III, (b) the S-S and C-S stretching (c) the skeletal bending and (d) skeletal stretching regions. These changes indicate a decrease in the amount of beta-structure and a transition towards alpha-helical conformation.
