Prevalence and influencing factors of metabolic syndrome among rural adult population in a district of South India.

Background: Metabolic syndrome has increased globally due to sedentary lifestyles, unhealthy diets and obesity, which is posing a substantial burden on healthcare systems. Understanding the determinants of metabolic syndrome like lifestyle factors, socioeconomic status and the environment are vital for devising effective prevention and management. Research into these determinants helps to identify high-risk populations and develop interventions to reduce its occurrence.

Rescue Measure in Giant Intracranial Meningioma Resection by Tranexamic Acid.

Neurosurgeons may find themselves in a precarious situation, while unable to secure haemostasis following tumour resection. We report intraoperative use of tranexamic acid to secure complete haemostasis as rescue measure in intracranial meningioma resection in uncontrollable bleeding.

Designed Synthesis of Nanostructured Magnetic Hydroxyapatite Based Drug Nanocarrier for Anti-Cancer Drug Delivery toward the Treatment of Human Epidermoid Carcinoma.

Superparamagnetic Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles on hydroxyapatite nanorod based nanostructures (Fe₃O₄/HAp) were synthesized using hydrothermal techniques at 180 °C for 12 h and were used as drug delivery nanocarriers for cancer cell therapeutic applications. The synthesized Fe₃O₄/HAp nanocomposites were characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET)-analysis, and vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM). The morphologies of the Fe₃O₄/HAp nanocomposites show 15 nm Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles dispersed in the form of rods.

One of the determining factors for the success of endodontic therapy is understanding the morphological anatomy of the tooth structure and its variants in relation to its template anatomy. The internal anatomy of maxillary first premolars is particularly complex due to their variation in number of roots and canal configuration. However, the bilateral presence of three roots in a maxillary first premolar is of rare occurrence.

Kikuchi - Fujimoto disease.

Kikuchi - fujimoto disease also known as histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis is an idiopathic benign self limiting condition with a favourable outcome, usually affecting young women. The following cases have burn reported for clinical interest and for the rarity of the reports about this condition in ENT literature. In our series, we had 2 female patients aged 18 years and 25 years respectively and a male patient aged 45 years, presenting with fever, bilateral tender multiple cervical adenopathy including posterior triangle nodes not responding to routine antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drug treatment.

Molecular mechanics studies of dinucleoside methylphosphonates: influence of methylphosphonate and its chirality on the phosphodiester conformation.

Molecular mechanics studies are performed on single stranded as well as base paired forms of dinucleoside methylphosphonates comprising different base sequences for both the S- and R-isomers of methylphosphonate (MP). S-MP produces noticeable distortions in the geometry, locally at the phosphate center, and this enables the stereochemical feasibility of compact g- g- phosphodiester. Besides, it tends to perturb the conformations around the P-O3' and glycosyl bonds, causing minor variations in stacking interactions.
