Background: Approximately 60% of people with low back pain also have associated leg pain symptoms. Guidelines for low back pain recommend non-pharmacological approaches, including spinal manipulation - a therapy provided by chiropractors. However, limited empirical data has examined the characteristics of chiropractors managing patients with low back-related leg pain (LBRLP).

However, some experimental results can be deceptive and may lead to misunderstanding. In particular, we show the dehydration associated with increased mechanical properties of tooth enamel as monitored by Nanomechanical System Testing (NST) can be misleading.

Autoantibodies, in particular anti-mitochondrial antibodies (AMA) detected by indirect immunofluorescence assays or newer solid phase immunoassays can detect most, but not all individuals with PBC. Detection of antibodies to the anti-nuclear antigens sp100 and gp210 can identify additional PBC patients, but some seronegative patients remain, often resulting in delayed diagnosis and treatment.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to quantify the threshold at which clinicians can detect a difference in spinal stiffness of the thoracic and lumbar spine via palpation and then determine if this detection threshold would affect a clinician's ability to identify changes in spinal stiffness as measured by an objective instrument.
Methods: In this study, the threshold at which a change in spinal stiffness was detected was quantified in 12 experienced clinicians (physical therapists and doctors of chiropractic) by changing the differential stiffness in 2 inflatable targets until the clinician could no longer identify which was stiffer. In the second part of the study, clinicians then were asked to palpate pre-identified pairs of vertebrae in an asymptomatic volunteer and to identify the stiffer of the pair (T7 and L3, T7 and L4, L3 and L4), and the biomechanical stiffness of each vertebral pair was quantified objectively by a validated instrument.
Objective: To examine the prevalence and profile of chiropractors who frequently manage people aged 65 years and older.
Methods: A national cross-sectional survey collected practitioner characteristics, practice settings and clinical management characteristics. Multiple logistic regression was conducted on 1903 chiropractors to determine the factors associated with the frequent treatment of people 65 years and older.
is an established model for drought tolerance. We previously identified accessions exhibiting high tolerance, susceptibility and intermediate tolerance to drought; respectively, ABR8, KOZ1 and ABR4. Transcriptomics and metabolomic approaches were used to define tolerance mechanisms.

Extended finite element method (XFEM) was adopted here to analyse the fracture load and crack length in tooth models with different cusp angles (ranging from 50° to 70° in 2.5° intervals), fissural morphologies (namely U shape, V shape, IK shape, I shape and Inverted-Y shape) and enamel material properties (constant versus graded).

Purpose: Radiation-induced meningioma is a known late effect of cranial radiation therapy. Cranial magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can detect small meningiomas, but its potential value as a screening tool is unknown.
Methods And Materials: MRI was used to screen asymptomatic survivors of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) treated with cranial radiation therapy ≥10 years previously.
Human cryptosporidiosis is the leading protozoan cause of diarrhoeal mortality worldwide, and a preponderance of infections is caused by Cryptosporidium hominis and C. parvum. Both species consist of several subtypes with distinct geographical distributions and host preferences (that is, generalist zoonotic and specialist anthroponotic subtypes).

Method: Polyethylene terephthalate (PET), acetal, polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), selenite, Egyptian alabaster, aragonite, and fluorite were fashioned into discs, and their densities were measured and stacked for microcomputed tomography examination. Frame averaging, flat-field correction, pre-filtration, and beam-hardening correction were applied.

Objective: To identify the conditions under which fabrication pore defects within veneering porcelain in bilayered lithium disilicate glass-ceramic (LDG) crowns will influence and jeopardize the mechanical integrity of the structure.
Methods: Thirty standardized molar crowns (IPS e.max Press) were fabricated and microCT scanned to 3D-analyze the size, morphology and distribution of pores in veneering porcelain, followed by in vitro fracture test and SEM fractographic observation.
Objective: To determine the thermal expansion of a porcelain (VM9) and tetragonal zirconia (Y-TZP) as well as the deflection upon re-heating and cooling of a bilayer fabricated from these two materials after slow and rapid cooling during initial fabrication.
Methods: The coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of bulk porcelain and Y-TZP as well as bilayer beam deflection was measured with a novel non-contact optical dilatometer. The influence of cooling rate during initial fabrication of the porcelain-zirconia bilayer and the bulk porcelain during subsequent heating and cooling is investigated.
Background: Many patients with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) experience non-hepatic symptoms that are possibly linked to altered interoception, the sense of the body's internal state. We used magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to determine if PBC patients exhibit structural and functional changes of the thalamus and insula, brain regions that process signals related to interoception.
Methods: Fifteen PBC patients with mild disease and 17 controls underwent 3 Tesla T1-weighted MRI, resting-state functional MRI, and quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM), to measure thalamic and insular volume, neuronal activity and iron deposition, respectively.
Objective: To determine the prevalence and clinical management characteristics of chiropractors practising in urban and rural or remote Australia.
Design: A cross-sectional analysis of the Australian Chiropractic Research Network project data.
Setting: Nationally representative sample of registered chiropractors practising in Australia.
Introduction: Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) mutational analysis in adenocarcinoma lung are growing in importance as these tests are essential in guiding the use of targeted therapy. However, the prevalence of these mutations in various populations in India has not been studied. Furthermore, the correlation of histologic pattern with the mutation is not clear.

Methods: We conducted a weighted analysis of the 2014 Nationwide Readmission Database to identify adult patients with cirrhosis-related complications in the United States and assessed readmission rates at 30, 60 and 90 days post-index hospitalization.

The presence study aims to evaluate the presence of comorbidity, its impact on therapeutic decision making, treatment compliance, and overall survival in HNSCC.
Methods: Five hundred eighteen patients with nonmetastatic HNSCC, elder than 18 years of age, without any prior history of cancer or anticancer treatment in the last 5 years were evaluated using Adult Comorbidity Evaluation 27 (ACE 27) index.
We introduce a self-assembling polypeptide-based nanotube system having the ability to specifically target cancer cells. The nanotubes target the cancer cell surface through integrin engagement with the help of multiple RGD units present along their surface. While the nanotubes are non-toxic towards cells in general, they can be loaded with suitable drugs to be released in a sustained manner in cancer cells.

We aimed to review the motor vehicle codes in each Canadian province and territory relating to the reporting of patients with hepatic encephalopathy and to search a Canadian legal database for cases of motor vehicle collisions involving patients with hepatic encephalopathy.
Methods: In this descriptive analysis, the transportation agencies of each Canadian province and territory were contacted via telephone and/or email between April and August 2017.
