Background: Shared genetic risk between Alzheimer's disease (AD) and concussion may help explain the association between concussion and elevated risk for dementia. However, there has been little investigation into whether AD risk genes also associate with concussion severity/recovery, and the limited findings are mixed. We used AD polygenic risk scores (PRS) and APOE genotypes to investigate associations between AD genetic risk and concussion severity/recovery in the NCAA-DoD Grand Alliance CARE Consortium (CARE) dataset.

Background: As machine learning becomes increasingly utilized in orthopaedic clinical research, the application of machine learning methodology to cohort data from the Multicenter ACL Revision Study (MARS) presents a valuable opportunity to translate data into patient-specific insights.
Purpose: To apply novel machine learning methodology to MARS cohort data to determine a predictive model of revision anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (rACLR) graft failure and features most predictive of failure.
Study Design: Cohort study; Level of evidence, 3.

Background: Revision anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction has been documented to have inferior outcomes compared with primary ACL reconstruction. The reasons why remain unknown.
Purpose: To determine whether surgical factors performed at the time of revision ACL reconstruction can influence a patient's outcome at 6-year follow-up.
The aesthetic and historical significance of art is well recognized; art can stoke emotions, invite close inquiry, and connect us to the past. However, works of art are also complex material objects that present unique challenges and opportunities for the scientific community. Identifying "fugitive" organic pigments in traditional oil paintings, for example, presents a particularly complex analytical challenge that is critical to address for their conservation and long-term preservation.

As the number and complexity of conditions increases, so do treatment and health care needs. We explored patient and clinician preferences for HIV+T2DM care and perceived solutions to improving care.

Purpose: To describe injury mechanisms and evaluate injury mechanisms as predictors of symptom severity, return to play (RTP) initiation, and unrestricted RTP (URTP) in a cohort of collegiate soccer players.
Study Design: Cohort study; Level of evidence, 2.

Introduction: Full-time clinical education experiences (CEEs) constitute a significant component of entry-level physical therapy education. COVID-19 challenged clinical education throughout the country by affecting the availability of CEEs.
Review Of Literature: Research suggested that the number of clinical education spots available would stay the same.
Purpose: To investigate orthopaedic patient compliance with patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) and identify factors that improve response rates.
Methods: Our search strategy comprised a combination of key words and database-specific subject headings for the concepts of orthopaedic surgical procedures, compliance, and PROMs from several research databases from inception to October 11, 2022. Duplicates were removed.
Immune checkpoint inhibitors are increasingly being utilized for the treatment of advanced neoplastic disease and have been associated with wide-ranging cutaneous adverse effects. Though exceedingly rare, eruptive keratoacanthomas have been associated with the use of immune checkpoint inhibitors such as pembrolizumab and nivolumab, whose molecular target is the programmed cell death protein 1. Herein, we detail a case of numerous eruptive keratoacanthomas arising in a patient one month after initiation of nivolumab for recurrent metastatic oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma.

Objective: The aim of this study was to identify gene expression changes in peripheral blood that are initiated following concussion and are relevant to concussion response and recovery.
Methods: We analyzed whole blood transcriptomes in a large cohort of concussed and control collegiate athletes who were participating in the multicenter prospective cohort Concussion Assessment, Research, and Education (CARE) Consortium study.
Background: People living with HIV (PLWH) are at higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes (T2DM). Both chronic conditions require individuals to adhere to medication regimens, yet few studies have sought to explore medication-taking behaviors among individuals with comorbid HIV and T2DM (HIV+T2DM).
Objective: This qualitative study sought to: 1) identify and compare perceived determinants of medication adherence for HIV and, separately, for T2DM, and 2) explore how participants prioritize conditions.
Objective: Advancements in diagnostics and treatment options for cardiac amyloidosis have improved patient outcomes, yet few patient education materials exist to help patients understand the disease and diagnosis process. We sought to develop and evaluate a set of plain language, patient-centered infographics describing the condition and common diagnostic tests.
Methods: Using health literacy best practices, we developed 7 infographics which were further revised based on multilevel stakeholder feedback.

Substantial research has supported using musical stimuli as an ergogenic aid before and during various forms of exercise. Researchers have demonstrated that music shifts attention from associative to dissociative, decreases perceived effort and discomfort, and increases arousal and pleasantness in longer-duration, low-to-moderate-intensity exercises. Strength training is shorter in duration and higher in intensity than aerobic or muscular endurance training.

Herein, we report a case of bullous pemphigoid (BP) secondary to nivolumab therapy for recurrent metastatic oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma. In this patient, the time to development of BP was three years, which represents the most delayed onset of BP secondary to a PD-1 inhibitor that has been reported in the literature.

Purpose: To describe the endorsement of specific concussion symptom clusters at GRTA protocol initiation and examine the association between symptom cluster endorsement and GRTA protocol duration.
Purpose: To compare objective and subjective clinical outcomes between suture-augmented anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) repair (SAACLR) and conventional ACL reconstruction (CACLR) with minimum 2-year follow-up.
Methods: In this nonrandomized, prospective study, 30 patients underwent SAACLR for proximal ACL avulsion or high-grade partial ACL tear (Sherman grade 1 or 2) and 30 patients underwent CACLR for proximal one-third/distal two-thirds junction tears and mid-substance tears (Sherman grade 3 or 4) tear types by 1 surgeon between 2018 and 2020. Failure was defined as ACL reinjury.
Background: Deciding how many anchors to use in a Bankart repair is challenging because of the desire to enhance stability while avoiding a postage-stamp fracture of the glenoid rim.
Methods: This controlled laboratory study investigated load to fracture of the anterior glenoid rim after drilling holes of varying number and diameter and inserting anchors of 2 different types and sizes, with and without perforation of the medial cortex of the glenoid, creating postage-stamp fractures using a metallic humeral head that was compressed against the anterior glenoid rim. A destructive model with a servohydraulic load frame was used to test 46 synthetic scapulae with compressive strength and elastic modulus similar to that of a human glenoid.
Commercially pure titanium grade II was kinetically nitrided by implanting nitrogen ions with a fluence in the range of (1-9)·10 cm and ion energy of 90 keV. Post-implantation annealing in the temperature stability range of TiN (up to 600 °C) shows hardness degradation for titanium implanted with high fluences above 6·10 cm, leading to nitrogen oversaturation. Temperature-induced redistribution of interstitially located nitrogen in the oversaturated lattice has been found to be the predominant hardness degradation mechanism.
