It has been classically conjectured that the brain assigns probabilistic models to sequences of stimuli. An important issue associated with this conjecture is the identification of the classes of models used by the brain to perform this task. We address this issue by using a new clustering procedure for sets of electroencephalographic (EEG) data recorded from participants exposed to a sequence of auditory stimuli generated by a stochastic chain.

Multifocal vascular neoplasm with an EWSR1::NFATC2 gene fusion and progression to epithelioid angiosarcoma - a case report.

There is an emerging group of distinct vascular neoplasms with NFATC1/2 fusions, involving bones and soft tissues and often displaying focal epithelioid morphology, variable atypia of endothelial cells, predominantly vasoformative and in some cases focal solid growth. Although they may show aggressive local growth and may recur locally, malignant behaviour has not been documented. We present a case of a 35-year-old woman with multiple vascular neoplasms with a EWSR1::NFATC2 fusion involving the lungs, multiple bones (vertebra, femurs, tibia, pelvis) and probably the liver.

The impact of obesity on the outcome of severe SARS-CoV-2 ARDS in a high volume ECMO centre: ECMO and corticosteroids support the obesity paradox.

Purpose: The aim was to verify the impact of obesity on the long-term outcome of patients with severe SARS-CoV-2 ARDS.

Materials And Methods: The retrospective study included patients admitted to the high-volume ECMO centre between March 2020 and March 2022. The impact of body mass index (BMI), co-morbidities and therapeutic measures on the short and 90-day outcomes was analysed.

In recent years, at a global level, the incidence of mycobacterioses induced by the rapidly growing species (), which is considered to be the most resistant to antibiotics and most difficult to treat, has been on the rise. Correct identification to the level of the subspecies (, , and ) and determination of its sensitivity to macrolides, which are the basis of combination therapy, are of principal importance for the management of the disease.

Isolation of Bordetella trematum from the respiratory tract of a patient with lung cancer: a case report.

We report the case of isolation of Bordetella trematum from the respiratory tract of a patient with lung carcinoma. This gram-negative, opportunistic rod was firstly described in 1996. To date, only several strains of Bordetella trematum have been isolated and reported, mostly from skin and soft tissue infections.

Cold atmospheric plasma for bleaching endodontically treated tooth: a new clinical approach.

The most commonly used bleaching agents contain different concentrations of hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide. In the present case, the bleaching procedure was performed using an induced field of cold atmospheric plasma, obtained from dielectric barrier discharge. The therapeutic effect of the device used in the clinical procedure is based on floating electrode dielectric barrier discharge, in which the glass electrode functions as the primary electrode, while the therapeutic area, which in this case is the tooth, represents the secondary electrode.

Axillary venous thrombosis (Paget-Schroetter syndrome): possible therapy by low-molecular weight heparin.

The authors report on a patient with spontaneous thrombosis of the right axillary vein (Paget-Schroetter syndrome). The treatment with low-molecular weight heparin was successful and no complications were observed.
