Introduction: After a FDA recommendation in April 2014, power morcellation (PM) in laparoscopic myomectomy (LM) has become less common. We now collect a myoma using manual morcellation (MM) from a wound in the umbilical region. In this study, we compared the PM and MM methods.

This class of agents provides faster and more potent acid inhibition than proton pump inhibitors. Most strains of Helicobacter pylori are sensitive to amoxicillin.

The clinical observation that AA can occur after viral infection or IFN-α administration implies that IFN-α-producing plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) may be involved in the AA pathogenesis.
Methods: We generated AA in C3H/HeJ mice by intradermal injection of T cells derived from lymph nodes of AA-bearing syngeneic mice and stimulated IL-2, IL-7, and IL-15.
Sugammadex 4 mg·kg is recommended for reversal from rocuronium-induced deep neuromuscular block. However, there is limited data regarding the dose-response of sugammadex required for reversal from deep neuromuscular block in pediatric patients. The aim of this study was to determine the reversibility of rocuronium-induced deep neuromuscular block with sugammadex in infants and children.

We examined the relationships between changes in the systemic circulatory parameters, cardiac output (CO) and systemic vascular resistance (SVR), and rCBV and rCBO after induction of spinal anesthesia, evaluated by near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) and an arterial pressure-based cardiac output monitoring system (APCOs).
Methods: Seventeen patients undergoing elective cesarean section under spinal anesthesia were monitored every 1 min for mean arterial pressure (MAP), heart rate (HR), end-tidal carbon dioxide (EtCO) and oxygen saturation (SpO), and at 20 s intervals for CO, SVR, concentrations of oxy-hemoglobin (Hb), deoxy-Hb, total-Hb, and tissue oxygenation index (TOI), until 15 min after the intrathecal injection of bupivacaine.
Serum ferritin, a marker of systemic iron status, is considered a prognostic factor for patients with myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), despite the lack of supporting evidence. We investigated the association between serum ferritin levels at diagnosis and the prognoses of Japanese MDS patients with bone marrow blasts < 5% and peripheral blood blasts < 2%. Three hundred and ninety patients with cytopenia were registered prospectively in the multicenter database, among whom 107 patients with MDS (72 males and 35 females, with a median age of 70 years) met the eligibility criteria.

Complete resection with endoscopic surgery was performed. Immunohistochemical staining for smooth muscle actin, β catenin, cyclin D1, vimentin, and factor 13 were helpful in establishing a definitive diagnosis.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFAcute liver failure (ALF) is a life-threatening condition, and liver transplantation is the only therapeutic option. Although immune dysregulation is central to its pathogenesis, the precise mechanism remains unclear. Here, we show that the number of peripheral and hepatic plasmacytoid DCs (pDCs) decrease during acute liver injury in both humans and mice.

However, for undefined reasons, patients with hematological tumors (HTs) often fail to receive opportunities for home care. We, therefore, sought to delineate the clinical differences between solid tumors (STs) and HTs and to determine whether home care is effective for patients with HTs, as well as those with STs.

The present study involved 44 patients with RC who were examined by DECT and then underwent surgery between May 2015 and September 2017. LPLN dissection was performed in 24 patients.

Methods: The pilot studies were designed to address three major objectives in postmarketing drug safety assessments, ie, the examination of actual drug utilization, the impact of safety-related regulatory actions, and drug-associated risks. The five studies were conducted on the following topics: (a) utilization of codeine-containing products and its relationship with respiratory depression, (b) impact of a Dear Healthcare Professional letter on hypocalcemia incidence associated with denosumab (Ranmark ) use, (c) risk of acute myocardial infarction associated with antidiabetic drug use, (d) risk of glucose metabolism disorders associated with atypical antipsychotic drug use, and (e) prospective monitoring of abnormal laboratory test results during new drug prescriptions.
Objective: To clarify the roles of 11 beta-HSD in resistance to glucocorticoid therapy for allergic rhinitis, a case series study was conducted.
Methods: The patient group consisted of 20 subjects with allergic rhinitis, aged from 21 to 46 years (mean age 26.5), who showed persistent GC resistance necessitating surgical removal of the inferior turbinate after 6 months' GC treatment.
Neonicotinoids are the fastest-growing class of insecticides successfully applied in plant protection, human and animal health care. The significant resistance increases led to the urgent need for alternative new neonicotinoids, with improved insecticidal activity. We performed molecular docking to describe a common binding mode of neonicotinoids into the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor, and to select the appropriate conformations to derive models.

Both proteases interact with protease-activated receptor 1, which exhibits functional selectivity and leads to G-protein- and β-arrestin-mediated-biased signal transduction. We focused on the effect of β-arrestin in PAR-1-biased signaling on endothelial function after stroke or high-fat diet (HFD).

There are some reported cases of treatment failure due to adverse events, and some reports that indicate prolonged overall survival(OS)following a reduction of the initial dose. Nevertheless, reports concerning the appropriate dose are lacking.

A series of guadipyr insecticides, active against Myzus persicae was engaged in silico studies, based on Multiple Linear Regression (MLR), Partial Least Squares regression (PLS), Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Pharmacophore modeling. Robust and predictive models were built using correlations between the insecticidal profile, expressed by experimental pLC values, and molecular descriptors, calculated from the energy optimized structures.

However, it is still unclear how adipocytes grow in the proximity of muscle fibers. We hypothesized that adipocytes would suppress muscle cell growth so as to grow dominantly within muscle.

Background: The word "sign" refers to important physical findings or observations that are useful in diagnosis; however, there are no scientific reviews of "signs." The aim of this paper was to list and review these terms using a bibliographic approach.
Methods: We performed a title search of "sign" using a bibliographic search and review approach in MEDLINE and EMBASE.
Background: Strong reactive oxygen species (ROS) suppression in cancer stem-like cell components in various solid tumors is associated with therapeutic resistance. In this study, we investigated the influence of CD44v8-10 expression on the overall survival of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (E-SCC) patients after definitive chemoradiotherapy (dCRT) and on radio-sensitivities of E-SCC cell lines treated with or without sulfasalazine, a CD44v8-10-xCT-GSH axis inhibitor.
Methods: Seventy-three patients with E-SCC who received dCRT were examined retrospectively.
The axial chirality of carbodiimide was proposed in 1932, but the synthesis of carbodiimide with one-handed axial chirality has not been achieved because of the low barrier of racemization. This work presents a strategy to use a conformationally restrained cyclic structure for creating carbodiimides whose biases of the axial chirality (labeled as S/ R) are higher than 100:1, as determined by vibrational circular dichroism spectroscopy and density functional theory calculations.
