Purpose: Patients with IDH-mutant 1p/19q-codeleted grade 3 oligodendroglioma (O3) benefit from adding alkylating agent chemotherapy to radiotherapy (RT). However, the optimal chemotherapy regimen between procarbazine, 1-(2-Chloroethyl)-3-cyclohexyl-1-nitrosourea (CCNU), and vincristine (PCV) and temozolomide (TMZ) remains unclear given the lack of randomized trial data comparing both regimens.
Methods: The objective was to assess the overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) associated with first-line PCV/RT versus TMZ/RT in patients newly diagnosed with O3.
Neurocryptococcosis is a severe neurological complication of Cryptococcus neoformans infections, primarily affecting immunocompromised individuals. This report describes the case of a 53-year-old man with no known medical history who experienced severe headaches and vomiting while on a business trip to Pakistan. He was given preventive antibiotic therapy, followed by a combination of sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim for suspected toxoplasmosis.

Methods: Maximal mitotic activity in consecutive high-power fields corresponding to 3 mm was examined for 118 lower-grade astrocytomas IDH-mutant.

Objective: To determine the reproducibility and prognostic value of GAB1 marker in anterior skull base meningiomas.
Background: Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) is rare genetic disorder mainly characterized by the development of central nervous system lesions, but peripheral nerve pathology may also cause high morbidity including pain, motor, and sensory loss.
Objective: To describe the tumor burden of patients with peripheral nerve pathology in NF2 including peripheral neuropathies and schwannomas and the results of surgery in the latter group.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective chart review of all patients with NF2 followed up at our NF2 Reference Center to include all patients suffering from peripheral nerve pathology.
Unlabelled: LZTR1 is the substrate-specific adaptor of a CUL3-dependent ubiquitin ligase frequently mutated in sporadic and syndromic cancer. We combined biochemical and genetic studies to identify LZTR1 substrates and interrogated their tumor-driving function in the context of LZTR1 loss-of-function mutations. Unbiased screens converged on EGFR and AXL receptor tyrosine kinases as LZTR1 interactors targeted for ubiquitin-dependent degradation in the lysosome.

Our study assesses the diagnostic value of static and dynamic [F]FDOPA PET acquisitions to differentiate between high-grade glioma (HGG) recurrence and TRC in a large cohort sourced from two independent nuclear medicine centers.
Methods: We retrospectively identified 106 patients with suspected glioma recurrences (WHO GIII, n = 38; GIV, n = 68; IDH-mutant, n = 35, IDH-wildtype, n = 71).

Purpose: This study aimed to assess the benefit-risk ratio by determining diagnostic yield and safety of brainstem biopsies in adult patients. The secondary objectives were (i) to compare brainstem biopsy safety and postbiopsy patients' outcomes and survival with those of patients biopsied for a brain or cerebellar lesion, and (ii) to assess the impact of brainstem biopsy on final diagnosis and further therapeutic management.
Methods: Among 1784 stereotactic biopsies performed in adult patients at a tertiary center between April 2009 and October 2020, we retrospectively examined 50 consecutive brainstem biopsies.

Aims: Mutations activating the hedgehog (Hh) signalling pathway have been described in anterior skull base meningiomas, raising hope for the use of targeted therapies. However, identification of Hh-activated tumours is hampered by the lack of a reliable immunohistochemical marker. We report three observations on the natural history of hormone-associated intraosseous meningiomas, showing in a first patient that those tumors may grow rapidly under nomegestrol. We then demonstrate the sustained growth of intraosseous hormone-associated meningiomas after cessation of promesgestone and nomegestrol, independently of the intracranial portion, which concurrently decreased in size in the second case or was resected at the time of nomegestrol withdrawal in the third case, thus giving new insights into the tumorigenesis mechanisms of hormone-associated intraosseous meningiomas.

The main histopathological and immunohistochemical characteristics of several entities are described: epilepsy-associated hippocampal sclerosis, long-term epilepsy-associated tumours, cortical malformations, vascular malformations, glial scars, encephalitides, and focal neuronal lipofuscinosis. The diagnostic approach, the differential diagnosis and the histochemical and immunohistochemical tools are detailed in order to provide the pathologist with a summarized toolkit to handle the broad range of epileptogenic lesions.
