Excisional goniotomy vs trabecular microbypass stent implantation: a prospective randomized clinical trial in eyes with mild to moderate open-angle glaucoma.

Purpose: To compare reduction in intraocular pressure (IOP) and IOP-lowering medication in eyes undergoing excisional goniotomy with Kahook Dual Blade (KDB) vs iStent microbypass implantation, both combined with phacoemulsification, in eyes with mild to moderate open-angle glaucoma (OAG).

Setting: Nine practices in the United States.

Design: Prospective, randomized, active-controlled, parallel-group clinical trial.

Endocyclophotocoagulation.

Endocyclophotocoagulation is becoming a widely accepted and popular treatment of refractory glaucoma and as an adjunct to cataract surgery in both medically controlled and uncontrolled glaucoma. We present a brief review of the indications, technique, safety and efficacy of endoscopic photococylocoagulation.

Optical coherence tomography findings in central retinal artery occlusion.

This article describes optical coherence tomography (OCT) findings in patients with central retinal artery occlusion by conducting a retrospective review of two cases. Central retinal artery occlusion shows a distinct pattern on OCT images. In the acute phase, OCT images demonstrate the increased reflectivity and thickness of the inner retina and a corresponding decrease of reflectivity in the outer layer of the retina and retinal pigment epithelium/choriocapillaris layer.
