The state of Hawai'i has the highest prevalence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection in the United States. Since vancomycin is the most frequently-prescribed antibiotic for healthcare-associated MRSA infection, there is concern for development of vancomycin resistance. We report on a 61 year-old woman with history of previous successful treatments of MRSA bacteremia with vancomycin.

Objectives: We evaluated the effects of lifestyle modification (LM) on lipid profile, oxidative stress and serum-stimulated human coronary artery endothelial cell (HCAEC) viability in coronary artery disease (CAD) patients after 6months.

Design And Methods: Thirty patients with CAD were randomly assigned to LM intervention (n=15) and usual care control (n=15) groups. LM-intervened patients were instructed to consume low-fat, high-antioxidants and fiber diets.
