Early detection of progressive liver damage in chronic liver disease (CLD) patients is crucial for better treatment response. Several studies have shown the association of microRNA (miRNA) in the progression of CLD in regulating cell proliferation, fibrosis, and apoptosis as well as in carcinogenesis. The study was aimed at determining the expression of miRNA-221 among different stages of fibrosis in CLD patients due to hepatitis B virus (HBV) and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and thus evaluate its role as an early biomarker in CLD.

The study aimed to assess health-seeking behaviour (HSB) and associated factors among hypertensive patients in Bangladesh. This cross-sectional study was conducted in the Hypertension & Research Centre, Rangpur, Bangladesh, between January 2022 and June 2022. A total of 497 hypertensive adults were recruited consecutively.

DNA has been discussed as a potential medium for data storage. Potentially it could be denser, could consume less energy, and could be more durable than conventional storage media such as hard drives, solid-state storage, and optical media. However, performing computations on the data stored in DNA is a largely unexplored challenge.

Mitochondria are critical for homeostasis and metabolism in all cellular eukaryotes. Brain mitochondria are the primary source of fuel that supports many brain functions, including intracellular energy supply, cellular calcium regulation, regulation of limited cellular oxidative capacity, and control of cell death. Much evidence suggests that mitochondria play a central role in neurodegenerative disorders (NDDs) such as Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

In the last two decades, considerable interest has been shown in understanding the development of the gut microbiota and its internal and external effects on the intestine, as well as the risk factors for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) such as metabolic syndrome. The intestinal microbiota plays a pivotal role in human health and disease. Recent studies revealed that the gut microbiota can affect the host body.

Introduction: Uncontrolled hypertension is the most common cause of major adverse clinical events (MACE), such as myocardial infarction, strokes, and death due to CVDs, in both developed and developing countries. Western-led studies found that treated hypertensive adults with uncontrolled hypertension were more at-risk of all-cause and CVD-specific mortality than normotensives. The PRospEctive longituDInal sTudy of Treated HyperTensive patients of Northern-Bangladesh (PREDIcT-HTN) study principally aims to estimate the incidence of MACE in treated hypertensive patients and identify the determinants of MACE.

HyperSpectral (HS) images have been successfully used for brain tumor boundary detection during resection operations. Nowadays, these classification maps coexist with other technologies such as MRI or IOUS that improve a neurosurgeon's action, with their incorporation being a neurosurgeon's task. The project in which this work is framed generates an unified and more accurate 3D immersive model using HS, MRI, and IOUS information.

The most devastating pandemic of this era coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) is caused by a novel virus named severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). Although it is primarily a respiratory pathogen, it can also result in several extra-pulmonary manifestations includes gastrointestinal symptoms, hepatocellular injury. Angiotensin-converting enzyme-2 (ACE-2) receptor and transmembrane serine protease 2 (TMPRSS2), the entry receptor for the causative coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 is co-express in the gastrointestinal tract, hepatocyte, and cholangiocytes similar to the respiratory mucosa.

Hypertension (HTN) is an important cause of cardiovascular mortality and the prevalence of hypertension is increasing particularly in middle- and low-income countries including Bangladesh. No data are available for the prevalence of hypertension among the government employees in Bangladesh. In this cross-sectional study, conducted from 30 October to 31 December 2016, 1219 government employees aging ≥18 years working in Rangpur city were evaluated for the presence of HTN and its risk factors.

It has recently been possible to synthesize ordered assemblies composed of magnetic superatomic clusters NiTe(PEt) separated by C and study their magnetic behavior. We have carried out theoretical studies on model systems consisting of magnetic superatoms separated by non-magnetic species to examine the evolution in magnetic response as the nature of the magnetic superatom (directions of spin quantization), the strength of isotropic and anisotropic interactions, the magnetic anisotropy energy, and the size of the assembly are varied. We have examined square planar configurations consisting of 16, 24 and 48 sites with 8, 12 and 24 magnetic superatoms respectively.

The clinical evidence of neurological menifestations associated with asphyxia is described as hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE). A variety of metabolic problems are present in asphyxiated newborns including hypoglycemia, hypocalcemia, hypomagnesemia and others metabolic abnormalities. Some of these biochemical disturbances may trigger seizure or potentiate further brain damage.

Aim: The purpose of this study was to evaluate patients with sacrococcygeal pilonidal sinus disease (SPSD) who underwent Karydakis procedure at our centre with reference to the perioperative findings, early and late postoperative results and recurrence.

Materials And Methods: A total of 103 patients presenting with SPSD at our centre underwent Karydakis flap repair from January 2001 to December 2010. These patients were then followed-up and evaluated with respect to operative time, drain use, hospital stay, suture removal, complications, and recurrence.
