Laparoscopic choledochotomy and choledochoduodenostomy for the management of persistent common bile duct stones.

Choledochotomy and choledochoduodenostomy were commonly used technique in the early twentieth century to extract bile duct stones. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography and sphincterotomy revolutionised the scenario and is currently the preferred first-line option for managing choledocholithiasis. However, in certain circumstances, where endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography fails, choledochotomy and choledochoduodenostomy are the only available options.

Case series on high grade appendiceal cancer with peritoneal and liver carcinomatosis undergoing cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC).

Background: Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP) is a mucin producing cancer with appendix as primary site. Cytoreductive Surgery (CRS) combined with hyper-thermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) is an established form of therapy known to prolong survival in patients with PMP and peritoneal carcinomatosis. Methods/patients In our case series, we present five cases of PMP with synchronous liver and peritoneal metastasis treated with CRS and HIPEC.

A very rare case report of an iatrogenic bladder perforation in a young female with concurrent Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome.

Acute bladder injuries are rare and usually occur following significant amount of trauma. It has also been reported to occur in patients with chronic conditions like carcinoma, prolonged indwelling catheters, chronic infections of the bladder among others. We present a case of an otherwise fit and healthy young woman who presented to our emergency department following an episode of binge drinking and urinary retention.

Robotic resection of a multicystic tailgut cyst.

A 29-year-old woman with recurrent pelvic pain that progressed post partum was diagnosed with a multicystic pararectal lesion on ultrasound and CT scan. Physiology was conducted to establish a preoperative function and pudendal nerve integrity. The lesion was resected using a Da Vinci Xi robotic system.

Very rare case of synchronous volvulus of the sigmoid colon and caecum causing large-bowel obstruction.

Large-bowel obstruction caused by volvulus is potentially life threatening if not managed promptly. Sigmoid colon is the most common site of volvulus followed by caecum. Synchronous double colonic volvulus is an exceedingly rare entity, with only five cases published previously.
