Arabica and robusta are the two major coffee beans being sold worldwide. It is well recognized that coffee quality is influenced by their origin and the microbiological activities that drive their fermentation. However, in many coffee plantations, information about the natural diversity of bacteria that inhabit the arabica and robusta coffee cherries is limited.

To date, there has been a lag between the rise in E-cigarette use and an understanding of the long-term health effects. Inhalation of E-cigarette aerosol delivers high doses of nicotine, raises systemic cytokine levels, and compromises cardiopulmonary function. The consequences for muscle function have not been thoroughly investigated.

A thorough understanding of the characteristics of COVID-19 patients in Australia plus the strategies that successfully 'flatten the curve' are vitally important to contain this pandemic.
Aim: To describe the clinical characteristics and outcomes of COVID-19 patients in the Sutherland Shire, and the management model adopted to manage these patients.
Background: Structural lung changes seen on computed tomography (CT) scans in Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) are currently described using scoring systems derived from CF populations. This practise assumes lung damage in the two conditions is identical, potentially resulting in a failure to identify PCD-specific changes. Our study addresses this assumption.

Background: Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is known to be one of the most prevalent endocrine disorders affecting reproductive age women. One of the endocrine disorder is hyperinsulinemia, which corresponds with the severity of PCOS. However, the pathogenesis of PCOS is not fully understood, but one theory of anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) has been proposed as one of the factor related to the degree of severity of PCOS.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is known to be associated with insulin resistance and anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH), leading to the use of insulin-sensitizing agents (ISAs) to manage PCOS. Metformin is the most widely used ISA to treat irregular menstruation; however, the gastrointestinal side effects are quite debilitating. The development of herbal medicines such as bioactive fraction DLBS3233 offers a possibly effective treatment with minimal side effects.

Current recommendations suggest an inspired oxygen level (FiO2 ) < 0.28, aiming for saturation (SpO2 ) of 88-92% until arterial blood gas analysis is available.

Efforts to improve handover have attracted attention recently, with the ISBAR tool increasingly utilised as a format for structured handover communication. However, ISBAR has not been validated in a junior medical officer setting.

Method: Singletons with CP born between 1991 and 2004 were selected from the Victorian Cerebral Palsy Register and matched for birth year to two singletons randomly selected from the Victorian Perinatal Data Collection Unit. Data from both sources were linked to records from three ART centres.
