Pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders associated with streptococcal infections (PANDAS) is an autoimmune disorder associated with sudden onset of behavior changes. The prevalence of PANDAS is increasing in schools and interdisciplinary collaboration, knowledge, and the use of referrals to the school nurse are important for supporting students. This project sought to provide education on PANDAS to the interdisciplinary school team and implement a referral process for students exhibiting behavior changes.

While RWJF was most often the sole funder of many of these initiatives, it has also joined with others to create a larger and more sustained impact on particularly challenging nursing, health, and health care issues.
Purpose: The purpose of this article was to describe the challenges and opportunities of a unique funding collaborative developed to engage new partners, increase the visibility of doctoral nursing education and increase funding of the RWJF Future of Nursing Scholars program to develop more PhD prepared nurses and nurse faculty.
Aim: This scoping review examined the work-life balance (WLB) of nursing faculty.
Background: The nursing faculty shortage has resulted in increasing workloads that make it challenging for faculty to achieve WLB. Understanding WLB may be important for strengthening the nursing faculty workforce.
This study aimed to identify the prevalence of leisure-time physical activity (LTPA) and fruit and vegetable intake (FVI) behaviors and to examine relationships between biological, sociocultural, and psychological personal factors and these behaviors among young adult Millennials aged 20 years to 32 years. Descriptive and inferential statistics were performed on data from the 2013-2014 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Of the 1,137 respondents, 47% met the recommendations for LTPA, and only 13% and 17% met the recommendations for intake of fruits and vegetables, respectively.

Materials And Methods: Curriculum-based instruction using educational theory and principles was designed for adolescents on an interactive multimedia CD-ROM. Twenty subjects completed summative evaluation of the CD-ROM measuring gain in knowledge about IBD immediately and 9 months after instruction.

Objectives: Growth hormone (GH) may reduce symptoms and improve growth in Crohn disease (CD). The effect on mucosal inflammation is not known. We hypothesized that GH would improve both clinical and mucosal disease activity and stimulate linear growth in pediatric CD.

Patients And Methods: Clinical and growth data were prospectively obtained on an inception cohort younger than 16 years old at diagnosis and Tanner I to III during the study.
Results: In all, 176 children (mean age 10.
Objective: To examine for differences in and predictors of health value/utility scores in adolescents with or without inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Study Design: Adolescents with IBD and healthy control subjects were interviewed in an academic health center. We collected sociodemographic data and measured health status, personal, family, and social characteristics, and spiritual well-being.
Background: We sought to characterize perianal disease and its treatment in pediatric patients newly diagnosed with Crohn's disease.
Methods: Data were obtained from the Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Collaborative Group Registry, a prospective, multicenter observational registry recording clinical and laboratory outcomes in children under 16 years of age newly diagnosed with IBD. Patients with Crohn's disease were selected who had data on perianal disease and at least 24 months of follow-up.
We have previously used MALDI mass spectrometry to highlight ammonium- or guanidinium-aromatic interactions via cation-pi bonding and ammonium- or guanidinium-phosphate interactions through salt bridge formation. In the present work, the gas-phase stability and dissociation pathways of the interaction between phosphorylated peptides and compounds containing quaternary amines are demonstrated using electrospray ionization mass spectrometry. The presence of one quaternary amine in a compound is enough to form a noncovalent complex with a phosphorylated residue.

We describe IM use in newly diagnosed pediatric CD, comparing outcomes of "early" versus "late" initiation of therapy.
Methods: Data were obtained from pediatric CD patients enrolled in a prospective, multicenter observational study.

Background: Hyperthyroidism is a common disease in the elderly. Antithyroid medications such as methimazole are one of the few treatment options.
Case Summary: A 76-year-old white woman presented to the clinic with a 1-week history of fatigue, sleepiness, 7-pound weight loss, and tachycardia.
Objective: To conduct a systematic review of children with newly diagnosed inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) from 2 prospective inception cohorts to examine body mass index (BMI) status at presentation.
Study Design: Clinical, demographic, and BMI data were obtained from 783 patients with newly diagnosed IBD. National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data for 2748 healthy children were used as a control.
Objective: The goal was to determine how often common laboratory tests yield normal results at the time of diagnosis for children with inflammatory bowel disease.
Methods: Data were obtained from a registry of children with newly diagnosed inflammatory bowel disease who were enrolled prospectively in 18 US/Canadian centers. Laboratory values investigated included hemoglobin level, platelet count, albumin level, and erythrocyte sedimentation rate.
Background & Aims: The aim of this study was to describe 3-month and 1-year outcomes of children with Crohn's disease (CD) treated with corticosteroids within 30 days of diagnosis, with particular emphasis on the influence of infliximab on these outcomes. We also aimed to determine whether there are clinical or laboratory characteristics associated with corticosteroid therapy outcomes.
Methods: Data from 109 children were drawn from a multicenter observational registry that was started in 2002.

Background & Aims: The aim of this study was to determine the clinical outcome after corticosteroid therapy in children who are newly diagnosed with ulcerative colitis (UC).
Methods: Data were gathered prospectively from the Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease Collaborative Research Group Registry database between January 2002 and March 2005. All children who were newly diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease younger than the age of 16 years were managed according to the dictates of their respective physicians.
To assist primary care providers, the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition (NASPGHAN) published clinical practice guidelines for management of childhood constipation. A cross-sectional survey of pediatricians from across the United States was conducted to assess pediatricians' constipation management strategies, whether pediatricians are familiar with the NASPGHAN constipation guidelines, and reasons pediatricians refer constipated patients to a pediatric gastroenterologist. Overall, 75% of pediatricians used polyethylene glycol without electrolytes to treat childhood constipation, 8% of pediatricians were aware NASPGHAN had published constipation guidelines, and parental pressure was just one reason pediatricians referred constipated patients to a pediatric gastroenterologist.
