Health system data incompletely capture the social risk factors for drug overdose. This study aimed to improve the accuracy of a machine-learning algorithm to predict opioid overdose risk by integrating human services and criminal justice data with health claims data to capture the social determinants of overdose risk. This prognostic study included Medicaid beneficiaries (n = 237,259) in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania enrolled between 2015 and 2018, randomly divided into training, testing, and validation samples.

New chemotherapeutic agents are urgently required to combat the global spread of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB). Microfluidic methodologies are becoming increasingly important for rapid formulation and screening of materials, and development of analytical tools for multiple sample screening is a critical step in achieving a combinatorial 'lab on a chip' approach. This work demonstrates the application of Raman spectroscopy for analysis of monomer composition and degree of conversion of methacrylate-based droplets in a microfluidic device. Droplet formation was conducted by flow focusing on the devices, and a gradient of component composition was created by varying the flow rates of the droplet-phase fluids into the microchannels.

The Residential Competency Scale, an 82-item questionnaire, was developed as a molecular measure for assessing the community living skills of expsychiatric patients in residential care settings. Over the course of its development, normative data were collected on a sample of 251 residents from 24 residential facilities, and critical analyses were performed to examine such aspects as the scale's internal consistency, factorial structure, reliability (both interrater and test-retest), concurrent validity, and discriminant validity. The results were quite favorable and indicate that the Residential Competency Scale is multidimensional, internally consistent, and reliable.
