We synthesised materials with different loadings of vanadia on fluorapatite (VO/FAp), fully characterised their structural properties using various spectral techniques including TEM, BET, XRD, FT-IR, SEM and EDX and assessed their prowess as catalysts. The 2.5% VO/FAp exhibited excellent activity for the synthesis of novel [1,3,4]thiadiazolo[3,2-]pyrimidines and benzo[4,5]thiazolo[3,2-]pyrimidines.

The crystal and molecular structure of 5-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-amino-1,3,4-thiadiazole 3 was reported, which was characterized by various spectroscopic techniques (FT-IR, NMR and HRMS) and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure 3 (CHClNS) crystallized in the orthorhombic space group Pna2 and the unit cell consisted of 8 asymmetric molecules. The unit cell parameters were a = 11.

Eleven new tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran derivatives were synthesized via a three component reaction of different aromatic aldehydes, methyl cyanoacetate and 1,3-cyclohexadione, with water as solvent under catalyst-free microwave irradiation. The structures of all the new molecules were well analysed and their structures established by using various spectral techniques (H NMR, C NMR, N NMR and HRMS). Various advantages of reported protocol are the ease of preparation, short reaction times (10 min), aqueous solvent and excellent yields (89-98%).

Use of cheaper and recyclable materials contributes positively to economic growth with environmental sustainability. We report the prospect of utilizing red brick clay as catalyst, which exhibited excellent activity in rapid one-pot four-component condensation of 1,2,4,5-tetrasubstituted imidazoles with high conversion and yields (91-96%) in aqueous medium at 60 °C in short reaction times (25-40 min). The red brick clay material was fully characterized by XRD, FT-IR, SEM, TEM, EDX and BET analyses.

A facile, swift and ecofriendly microwave-assisted multi-component/one-pot protocol is designed for the synthesis of novel pyrazolo-[3,4-]-quinolines at ambient temperature in aqueous ethanol as a reaction medium. The 18 novel pyrazolo-[3,4-]-quinoline derivatives were synthesized by fusion of chosen aryl aldehyde, dimedone and 5-amino-3-methyl-1-phenylpyrazole in excellent yields (91-98%). All the molecular structures were confirmed by H-NMR, N-NMR, C-NMR, and HRMS data analysis.

The BiO loading on ZrO as heterogeneous catalyst was established as an extremely efficient catalyst for the synthesis of a series of novel 5-(1-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)-3-substituted-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)-1,2,4-triazolidine-3-thione derivatives (3a-o) with high yields (90-96%) by reaction of 1-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)-3-substituted-phenyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carbaldehydes and thiosemicarbazide using water as a greener solvent at 80 °C within 30-45 min. Materials with different percentages of BiO on ZrO were prepared by simple wet impregnation method. The synthesized material has been characterized by various techniques (XRD, TEM, SEM, BET).

A simple and versatile one-pot three-component synthetic protocol is devised for heterocycles, viz. 2,6-diamino-4-substituted-4H-pyran-3,5-dicarbonitrile derivatives, in short reaction times ([Formula: see text]30 min) at room temperature using ethanol as a solvent. This method involves the three-component reaction of malononitrile, substituted aldehydes, and cyanoacetamide catalyzed by chitosan-doped calcium hydroxyapatites (CS/CaHAps) giving good to excellent yields (86-96%).

An investigation was conducted into the influence of the amino acids as organic modifiers in the facile synthesis of metal incorporated fluorapatites (FAp) and their properties. The nanostructured Sm doped fluorapatites (Sm-FAp) were prepared by a co-precipitation method using four different amino acids, namely glutamic acid, aspartic acid, glycine and histidine. The materials were characterized by various techniques including X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy (FT-IR), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), N₂-adsorption/desorption isotherm, temperature programmed desorption (TPD) and fluorescence spectrophotometry.

We designed a ceria-vanadia/silica (Ce-V/SiO2) heterogeneous catalyst and used it for the green and efficient synthesis of 2-amino-3-cyano-4H-pyran derivatives. The green reaction was a multicomponent one-pot condensation of 5,5-dimethylcyclohexane-1,3-dione, aromatic aldehyde, and malononitrile in an eco-compatible solvent (ethanol). The catalyst was synthesized and fully characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area analysis.
