Objective: Simvastatin was used as an adjuvant medication in this clinico-radiographic investigation to assess the impact on crestal bone levels around immediate implantation.

Materials And Methods: A randomized controlled trial with 50 patients who needed an implant placed right away was done. Simvastatin was used as an adjuvant in groups ((Group A), whereas group (Group B)) served as the control group for the participants.

Introduction: Reproductive tract infection (RTI) is the infection of the reproductive tract. Due to the hesitation in reporting the symptoms and receiving the treatment from the health centers, there is a significant dropout. The health care-seeking actions of the women reflects the attentiveness of the disease in that community and the inadequacy of the health care facility.

In this paper, we propose a continuous-time stochastic intensity model, namely, (2P-DCP), for modelling the epidemic contagion of COVID-19 and investigating the lockdown effect based on the dynamic contagion model introduced by Dassios and Zhao [24]. It allows randomness to the infectivity of individuals rather than a constant reproduction number as assumed by standard models. Key epidemiological quantities, such as the distribution of final epidemic size and expected epidemic duration, are derived and estimated based on real data for various regions and countries.

Nanotechnology involving cellulosic substrates has generated a great attention owing to their exceptional physical and chemical properties. Self-assembled nanostructures obtained from carbohydrate polymers are of interest in the biomedical field for the biocompatibility and non-toxic nature. In the present study modification of nano-fibrillated cellulose (NFC) synthesised from the husk fibers of Areca catechu nuts (AHF) was studied by controlled regio-selective amidation with oleylamine (OA) and characterized.

Patient positioning is of critical importance in the successful performance of several radical pelvic operations. Adequate exposure of the prostatic apex is vital in ligating the dorsal vein complex and performing vesicourethral anastomosis. To test the effect of different patient positions on urethral mobility, we conducted a prospective controlled study measuring the relative cephalad displacement of the prostatic apex in 3 positions, that is the supine, frog-leg and dorsal lithotomy positions.

Cysts of the tunica albuginea are uncommon lesions of the testis which in all reported cases have been benign. Complex cysts of the tunica albuginea can mimic intratesticular lesions, thus necessitating orchiectomy. We present a case of a complex tunica albuginea cyst which mimicked an intratesticular lesion at sonography, as well as at magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Although significant progress has recently been made in culturing mammalian urothelial cells, relatively little is known about their biochemical differentiation. In this paper, we assessed the differentiation state of cultured bovine urothelial cells by analyzing their keratins and a cell surface marker, uroplakin I. Urothelial cells were serially cultured either in a serum-free medium, or in a serum-containing medium in the presence of 3T3 feeder cells, with similar results.

The luminal surface of mammalian urothelium is covered with numerous plaques (also known as the asymmetric unit membrane or AUM) composed of semi-crystalline, hexagonal arrays of 12-nm protein particles. Despite the presumed importance of these plaques in stabilizing the urothelial surface during bladder distention, relatively little is known about their protein composition. Using a mouse mAb, AE31, we have identified a 27-kD protein that is urothelium-specific and is differentially expressed in superficial umbrella cells.

Stricture of the anastomosis between the bladder neck and membranous urethra after radical prostatectomy can cause significant voiding dysfunction. Of 156 patients undergoing radical prostatectomy for localized prostatic carcinoma 18 had anastomotic stricture for an over-all incidence of 11.5%.

We describe our experience with 20 patients undergoing 1-stage scrotal island flap urethroplasty for severe bulbomembranous stricture disease. While 16 patients achieved satisfactory results, 4 required revision for recurrent stricture, diverticulum or fistula. Use of hairless skin and aggressive tailoring of the flap are stressed to avoid the common complications of diverticulum, hair ball and stone formation.

Simple renal cysts can coexist with renal stones. Percutaneous removal of these stones requires special considerations. We describe the management of 2 patients with this problem and propose a simple logarithm.

A limited course of intravesical mitomycin C was tested in 12 patients who had at least three, and an average of six, occurrences of superficial bladder cancer, and were at high risk for subsequent recurrences. After intravesical chemotherapy, recurrence rates were significantly less than rates prior to chemotherapy.
