Ehlers- Danlos Syndrome.

A female patient had Ehlers-Danlos syndrome type II since infancy, manifesting with hyperextensible skin and ciagarette paper scars at the sites of trauma. Treatment with vitamin C 1 gm a day seemed to be useful.

Nystatin in Psoriasis.

The hypothesis of the role of Candida in the gut for provoking psoriasis was tested by treating 9 males and 6 females having stable psoriasis with 200,000 units of nystatin orally 4 times a day for a minimum of 6 weeks. Intradermal candidin test and throat swab and stool samples for culture of Candida were taken before and twice after (between 4 and 8 weeks) institution of the therapy. Various Candida species isolated before therapy in 11 patients, disappeared after the therapy in 6.

Lichen Aureus.

A 23-year-old male presented with with-defined orange-brown patches on the lower legs of 6 months duration. The lesions were I and had been largely asymptomatic. The clinical picture and histopathology were consistent with lichen aureus.

Papillon-lefevre Syndrome.

A 13-year-old girl having Papillon-Lefevre syndrome presented with palmo-plantar Keratoderma, early loss of primary dentition and gingivitis. Repeated skin infections were a striking feature. There were however, no associated immunological abnormalities.

Sporotrichosis in north western India (Report of 5 cases).

Five women with lympho-cutaneous sporotrichosis with a mean age of 46.8 years, were seen over the last 3 years. Four belonged to rural Himachal Pradesh and one to Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Prevalence of Contact Hyper Sensmviw to Common Antiseptics, Antibacterials and Antifungals in Normal Persons.

Two hundred individuals including 127 apparently normal persons and 73 patients with non-eczematous minor dermatoses were patch tested with 26 commercially available topical antiseptic, anti-bacterial and antifungw preparations. Forty five persons showed 68 positive patch tests, 18 of which were positive for more than one preparation. Males and females showed positive patch test in 23.

Evaluation of Penicillin Hypersensitivity with Penicilloyl Polylysine and Penicillin G.

A case of phaeohyphomycosis in a three-year-old female child born to consanguineous parents is reported. The causative agent was Exophiala jmmlmei. The lesions were found in skin, subcutaneous tissue, lymph nodes and limb bones, which makes it a rare case.

Contact Dermatitis Due to Plants in Chandigarh.

Two hundred and seven patients (151 males and 56 females) were patch tested with a battery of plants, potassium dichromate and formaldehyde. Sensitivity to Parthenium hysterophorus. Nerium indicum, Calotropis procera, Eucalyptus sp and Mangifera indica was found in 60.

Indigenous Patch Iest Unit Resembling Finn Chamber.

Indigenous patch test unit made front aluminum discs obtained' from the tops of discarded injection vials and adhesive plaster was found suitable after testing:8430 chambers in 471 patients. This patch test unit is cheap and can be easily prepared in a side laboratory. The discs can be resued after washing and drying and disc material has no cross-reactivity with nickel.

Epidemiology of Psoriasis in a Clinic From North India.

Clinical and epidemiological data on 782 patients of psoriasis collected from a clinic in north India is presented. Psoriatics accounted for 1.4% of the total dermatology out-patients.

Pattern of Cutaneous Tuberculosis in North India.

Data on 66 patients with cutaneous tuberculosis seen over a period of 4 years was analysed. Males -predominated (71.6%) over females (28.

Epidermolytic Hyperkeratosis with Mental Retardation, Breast Hypoplasia and Ventricular Septal Defect.

Two cases of epidermolytic hyperkeratosis are described, one having a generalised variety along with mental retardation, nystagmus, unilateral breast atrophy and intermittent divergent aquint, and the other having the localised variety associated with mental retardation, ventricular septal defect, sensorineural deafness, hypoplasia of first left metacarpal and extensive dental caries.

Hypohidrotic Ectodermal, Dysplasia with Features of Acanthosis Nigricans and Chronic Candidiasis.

Three siblings having hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia are described. In addition to trichodysplasia, odonto- dysplasia and they had acanthosis nigrilcans of the, ano-genitat area and lesions suggestive of candida infection as evidenced by chronic paronychia in the finger and toe-nail folds, and maceration in the groins.The youngest brother also had a cutaneous horn in the sacral region.

Elevated Levels of Plasma Cortisol in Pityriasis Versicolor.

Plasma cortisol levels were estimated in 49 patients having pityriasis versicolor and compared with the values obtained in 50 healthy controls and 23 Patients (matched for age) with dermatological problems other than Pityriasis versicolor. Side Lab Diagnosis of Chromoblastomycosis.

A 35 year old male having erythematous and verrucous plaques and scars on his right lower limb, diagnosed as a case of chromoblastomycosis is described. The importance of close scrutiny of lesions for brownish- black dots and their direct microscopic exarmination in 10% KOH for the causative fungus is highlighted. The causative fungus was identified as Cladosporium carrionni.

Fabry's Disease.

A case of Fabry' disease (angiokeratoma corporis diffusum universale) is reported. Presence of uncommon physical thick lips, large ears and proportion are high - lighted.

Epidermodysplasia Verruciformis with Squamous Cell Carcinoma in a Family.

Three Indian sibs with epidermodysplasia verruciformis (EV), born of consanguineous marriage, are _described. The lesions were hypopigmented, erythematous, flat papules present over the face, neck, trunk and upper extremities. Multiple Bowen's keratosis over the face in case 1 and 2, and squamous cell carcinomas over the forehead in case 1 and the scalp in case 2 were also present at the time of presentation.

Treatment of Psoriasis-newer Concepts.

Various old and new modalities available for the treatment of psoriasis are discussed. Advantages and disadvantages of various preparations are highlighted to help.

Primary Systemic Amiyloidosis with Bullous Lesions.

Primary systemic amyloidosis with bullous lesions associated with multiple myeloma is described in an adult patient. The response to therapy with melphalan and prednisolono had been quite encouraging. The patient was well when seen more than 2 years after the initial diagnosis.

Arsenical Hyperkeratosis and Bowen's Disease.

An association of arsenical kerotosis and Bowen's disease. in 2 patients is occurring patients is presented. Literature is reviewed briefly.

Delayed Hypersensitivity in Psoriasis.

Twenty two adult male patients of psoriasis and 100 normal Volunteers Were skin-tested ' with DNC-B, mumps skin antigen, candidin coccidiodin, PPD, croton Oil and histamine hate Except for 'decreased mine phosphate sensitization seen: with DNCB, the response of psoriabics to, skin testing was comparable with the normals.
