We report here, reverse micelle mediated synthesis of multifunctional dextran (dex) coated GdO nanoparticles (NPs) carrying rose bengal (RB) dye for magnetic resonance and optical imaging. The diameter of these RB attached dex coated GdO NPs (Gd-dex-RB NPs) was found to be ~17 nm as measured by TEM. NMR line broadening effect on the surrounding water protons affirmed the paramagnetic nature of these NPs.

Background: Hyperlipidemia is a major risk factor of coronary heart disease. Currently available hypolipidemic drugs have been associated with number of side effects. Arogyavardhini vati, an Ayurvedic polyherbal formulation has been used for liver disorders.

Mechanisms and clinical uses of capsaicin.

Capsaicin is the active ingredient of chili peppers and gives them the characteristic pungent flavor. Understanding the actions of capsaicin led to the discovery of its receptor, transient receptor potential vanilloid subfamily member 1 (TRPV1). This receptor is found on key sensory afferents, and so the use of capsaicin to selectively activate pain afferents has been studied in animal and human models for various indications.
