Gynecological cancers quite often affect young women who wish to preserve their fertility. In addition, with the advancement in age of first pregnancies, this problem has currently taken on a significant scale. Most often, fertility preservation is possible provided that the cancerous tumor is discovered at an early stage and of a non-aggressive histological nature.

Indeed, advancements in ART over the last few decades have been obtained thanks to several improvements, including ovarian stimulation, embryo culture conditions and, of course, progress in cryopreservation methods, especially with the application of vitrification. The ability to cryopreserve human embryos has improved significantly with vitrification compared to the initially adopted slow-freezing procedures.

Methods: We performed a prospective collection and revision of clinical, intraoperative, and postoperative data from a patient who underwent UOT. In addition, a systematic review of the literature available to date on all cases of UOT was realized, and 14 patients from 10 articles were included.
Recurrent miscarriages have a major psychological and somatic impact, as well as a significant economic burden. An etiological work-up should be offered after two or three miscarriages, the threshold varying from one scientific society to another. However, the proposed biological work-up must be justified by scientific evidence.

These bacteria, by their presence, prevent vaginal contamination by other potentially aggressive germs. Disturbances of the microbiota lead to a pathological state called dysbiosis, one of the most frequent pathogenic aspects of which is bacterial vaginosis.

While it is considered experimental, since procedures to obtain mature spermatozoa from prepubertal testicular tissue are still under development, testicular tissue cryopreservation programs have emerged worldwide. Our aim was to study the feasibility and safety of a program of testicular tissue cryopreservation in prepubertal and adolescent boys facing gonadotoxic treatment in three University hospitals in Switzerland.

Patterns of cancer cure were identified, in terms of long-term survival and life expectancy, by means of two recently estimated indicators: cure fraction (CF) and time to cure (TTC).
Methods: We considered population-based studies reporting results for some cancer types on CF, defined as the proportion of patients who will reach the same life expectancy of the general population, or/and TTC, the time span necessary to experience a negligible excess mortality.
Objective: To determine the effect of a 3-month course of clomiphene citrate (CC) on plasma testosterone (T) level and on semen parameters in 18 infertile men with low T level and normal or low gonadotropines level.
Study Design: A retrospective study was conducted by reviewing the medical records of men referred to a university fertility medicine unit for infertility management between January 2010 and March 2015. Men treated with CC for at least 3 months were included if they presented with: RESULTS: 18 patients met the inclusion criteria.
Palliative care is gaining acceptance across the world. However, even when palliative care resources exist, both the delivery and distribution of services too often are neither equitably nor acceptably provided to diverse population groups. The goal of this study was to illustrate tensions in the delivery of palliative care for diverse patient populations to help clinicians to improve care for all.

For many years, it was routine practice to transfer multiple embryos in order to obtain the highest pregnancy rates. This strategy has induced a dramatic increase in multiple pregnancies and the associated complications for the mother and the child.

The number of cancer survivors in the world has, in fact, almost tripled in the last decade alone. Anticancer therapies, including those of the latest generation, aimed at targeting also the chronicity of the disease, are not free from side-effects, especially when used in the long term.

Currently there about 15 million cancer survivors, and by 2025, there will be nearly 20 million. Who will provide survivorship care, what are evidenced-based or best care practices, what are best methods to disseminate this information and assess its impact on physician practice, and what are the most cost-effective health care delivery models to serve the majority of survivors?
Summary Answer: The ASCO Survivorship Committee in collaboration with the ASCO Professional Development Committee developed a core curriculum and core competencies for physicians, allied health professionals, training programs, and policymaking organizations.
Thomas is 13 years old. His parents report a sharp decline in his school grades caused, according to his teachers' opinions, by listlessness and lack of concentration. The parents of Julia, 16 years old, describe her as restless, evasive, isolated, and withdrawn from others and from her usual activities.

This study assessed QoL of Italian survivors and tested the association between QoL and the main clinical and socio-demographic sample's characteristics.
Methods: Two hundred and sixty-five Italian adult long-term cancer survivors (people free from cancer and its treatments for at least 5 years) were administered the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire Core 30, the Impact of Cancer, and the Short Form 36 questionnaires obtaining three different QoL profiles-cancer-specific, survivorship-specific, and generic.
The world population is aging, with the proportion of older people (65+ years) expected to reach 21% in 2050 and to exceed the number of younger people (aged 15 or less) for the first time in history. Because cancer is particularly a chronic disease of older people, a large increase in the number of elderly patients with cancer is anticipated. The estimated number of new cancer cases worldwide among people over 65 is expected to grow from about 6 million in 2008 to more than 11 million during the coming decade.

The clinical approach to patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) has been largely modified by the identification of novel genes, the detection of gene mutations in apparently sporadic patients, and the discovery of the strict genetic and clinical relation between ALS and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). As a consequence, clinicians are increasingly facing the dilemma on how to handle genetic counselling and testing both for ALS patients and their relatives. On the basis of existing literature on genetics of ALS and of other late-onset life-threatening disorders, we propose clinical suggestions to enable neurologists to provide optimal clinical and genetic counselling to patients and families.
