Methods: Twenty-one patients who had unilateral medically uncontrolled trigeminal neuralgia and underwent ipsilateral surgery from 2006 to 2012 were included. Of these, 10 had microvascular decompression (MVD group) and 11 had balloon compression of the trigeminal ganglion (BC group).
Objectives: External ventricular drains (EVDs) are commonly placed freehand using targeting landmarks unchanged since the pre-CT era; it is known to be an inaccurate procedure. To our knowledge, this is the first study to assess the geometric reliability of specific trajectories in a three-dimensional model.

Case Report: A 15-year-old girl presented in coma with a fixed dilated left pupil six weeks following removal of a long-standing left-sided ventriculoperitoneal shunt. Computed tomography (CT) and cerebral angiography revealed a left temporoparietal intracerebral haemorrhage with a fusiform distal middle cerebral artery aneurysm.
