Background: Previously identified phenotypes of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) could not reveal the dynamic change of phenotypes over time. We aimed to identify novel clinical phenotypes in ARDS using trajectories of fluid balance, to test whether phenotypes respond differently to different treatment, and to develop a simplified model for phenotype identification.
Methods: FACTT (conservative vs liberal fluid management) trial was classified as a development cohort, joint latent class mixed models (JLCMMs) were employed to identify trajectories of fluid balance.
Objective: To investigate the factors affecting the timing and prognosis of early tracheostomy in multiple rib fracture patients.
Methods: A retrospective case-control study was used to analyze the clinical data of 222 patients with multiple rib fractures who underwent tracheotomy in the Affiliated Hospital of Yangzhou University from February 2015 to October 2021. According to the time from tracheal intubation to tracheostomy after admission, the patients were divided into two groups: the early tracheostomy group (within 7 days after tracheal intubation, ET) and late tracheostomy group (after the 7th day, LT).

Objective: The current study was conducted to determine whether peak bone mineral density (BMD) and obesity phenotypes are associated with certain gene polymorphisms found in Chinese nuclear families with female children.
Methods: A total of 22 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) located in and around the gene were identified in 1,300 subjects who were members of 390 Chinese nuclear families with female children. Then, BMD readings of the femoral neck, total hip, and lumbar spine as well as measurements of the total lean mass (TLM), total fat mass (TFM), and trunk fat mass were obtained dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry.
Kaempferol is a medicinal flavonol derived from the roots of Kaempferia galanga L. Kaempferol can affect cell survival, apoptosis, and anti-oxidation, though its role and underlying mechanism in retinal ganglion cells with high-glucose injury remains unclear. In this study, we explored kaempferol's role in high-glucose injury in cells from the retinal ganglion cell (RGC) line.

Methods: Foreign databases, such as the Cochrane Library, PubMed and EMBASE, and Chinese databases, including the China Biology Medicine disc (SinoMed), China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Chongqing VIP (VIP) and WanFang Data, were searched. Published randomized controlled trials (RCTs) documents obtained from these databases were included if they were associated with the research objective.
Diabetes has become a major public health issue in the world. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), also known as non‑insulin‑dependent diabetes mellitus, has been identified to result in an inability to compensate for insulin resistance. A previous study has shown that NSD2 regulates glucose metabolism; however, whether NSD2 serves roles in diabetes has not been thoroughly elucidated to date.
