- Insulin resistance (IR) is a significant factor in polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), affecting even non-obese women, but its exact mechanisms are still unclear. The study investigates the connection between a specific genetic polymorphism in the CYP17 gene and IR in non-obese PCOS patients.
- The research involved comparing 75 women with PCOS to 73 matched controls, measuring testosterone levels and IR using the HOMA-IR method. Results indicated elevated testosterone and HOMA-IR values in the PCOS group, but did not find a strong link between the genetic polymorphism and insulin resistance.

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease associated with an increased insulin resistance, obesity and cardiovascular risk. The present study was aimed to assess insulin resistance and pattern of body fat deposition in psoriasis. Body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference (WC) were measured in 40 psoriatic patients and 46 age- and sex-matched control subjects.

Common causes of EM are herpes simplex virus infection, mycoplasma infection, drug hypersensitivity, vaccination and drug-virus interaction. EM induced by contact dermatitis is rare.
