Full genome sequence analysis showed the virus to be related to members of the family Totiviridae, and was therefore named 'Armigeres subalbatus totivirus' (AsTV). Transmission electron microscopy identified icosahedral, non-enveloped virus particles with a mean diameter of 40 nm.
