Etiology of Malocclusion and Dominant Orthodontic Problems in Mixed Dentition: A Cross-sectional Study in a Group of Thai Children Aged 8-9 Years.

Background: Etiology of malocclusion can be the cause of deviation in the skeleton, dental, and soft tissue development in children. Identifying etiology of malocclusion and dominant orthodontic problems as well as early detection could help in future effective treatment, management, and public health planning.

Materials And Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed among 202 children.

Clinical presentation and outcome in congenital pulmonary malformation: 25 year retrospective study in Thailand.

Background: Congenital pulmonary malformations (CPM) are a group of rare abnormal lung development lesions that can have various presentations. The aim of this study was to define the differences in the clinical presentations of CPM in neonates, infants, and children, and to review the outcomes.

Methods: A retrospective study was conducted at a tertiary care hospital in southern Thailand between 1992 and 2016.

Orthodontic treatment needs of children with high caries using Index for Preventive and Interceptive Orthodontic Needs (IPION).

Aim: This study aimed to use the Index for Preventive and Interceptive Orthodontic Treatment Needs (IPION) in high caries children and to investigate the IPION components that differentiate level of preventive and interceptive orthodontic treatment need (P&I Tx need).

Methods: A sample of 202 children (8-9 years of age) was randomly selected from the schools in urban and rural areas in Songkhla Province, Southern Thailand. Dental models, intra-oral photographs, and the examination of oral function were collected and the P&I Tx need was determined according to IPION.

Tuberculosis of the thymus in a 6-month-old infant with literature review.

Tuberculosis of the thymus is very uncommon. Most previously reported cases have involved adolescents or adults. Herein, we report a case of tuberculosis of the thymus diagnosed in a 6-month-old infant, presenting with progressive dyspnea and a mediastinal mass.

Comparison of salbutamol efficacy in children--via the metered-dose inhaler (MDI) with Volumatic spacer and via the dry powder inhaler, Easyhaler, with the nebulizer--in mild to moderate asthma exacerbation: a multicenter, randomized study.

Background: Beta(2) agonist administered via a nebulizer is the standard treatment for acute asthma exacerbation. There are some limitations for the use of nebulization. We conducted a study to determine the efficacy of salbutamol administered via the pMDI with Volumatic spacer and the Easyhaler (DPI) compared to nebulization in mild to moderate asthma exacerbations in children.

Natural history of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea in Thai school-age children.

In 1999, a survey was carried out in 1,008 Thai children aged 7 years, which found that 85 (8.5%) children were habitual snorers, and 7 (0.69%) children had mild obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS).

Congenital bronchoesophageal fistula and tracheoesophageal fistula with esophageal atresia.

A case of initial esophageal atresia and tracheoesophageal fistula in a female newborn, later complicated by pneumonia and a second bronchoesophageal fistula, is reported. She was treated surgically by closure of the tracheoesophageal fistula and by end-to-end esophago-esophageal anastomosis. An esophagram at 1 month of age was normal.

TSH secreting pituitary adenoma in children: a case report.

The clinical presentation of TSH-secreting pituitary adenoma in an 11-year-old boy is reported. Hyperthyroidism, signs and symptoms of increased intracranial pressure with the elevation of TSH, T3, T4 were the clues for suspecting this disorder. Bilateral carotid angiogram was performed which disclosed a suprasellar mass, and pituitary surgery was performed.

This article described the over-view of pre-surgical treatment for cleft lip and palate infant in order to provide some ideas for general dental practitioners so that they can help such patients as much as possible.
