Nanoscale materials are being developed from individual particles to multi-component assemblies, with carbon nanomaterials being particularly useful in bioimaging, sensing, and optoelectronics due to their unique optical properties, enhanced by surface passivation and chemical doping. Noble metals are commonly used in conjunction with carbon-based nanomaterials for the synthesis of nanohybrids. Carbon-based materials can function as photosensitizers and effective carriers in photodynamic therapy, enabling the use of combined treatment approaches.

Methods: The biomacromolecule lignin was functionally modified with 2-[(E)-(2-hydroxy naphthalen-1-yl) diazenyl] benzoic acid by Steglich esterification, and loaded with zinc oxide nanoparticles. The products were characterized by UV-Visible, FTIR, and NMR spectroscopic techniques, and by SEM, TEM, and X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD).
Unlabelled: Increased antimicrobial resistance demands the development of new antimicrobial agents with high potency. A wide variety of microbial systems are continuously subjected to mutations which ultimately results in antimicrobial resistance. The present study aimed at the fabrication of a nano drug delivery system which simultaneously is superparamagnetic, fluorescent, non-cytotoxic and antifungal.

The current study focussed on a dendritic modification of PBA with hyperbranched polyglycerols (HPG) by Steglich esterification and further doping with iron oxide nanoparticles (IONP) of α-FeO phase. The covalent coupling between HPG and PBA was confirmed by FTIR and H-NMR spectra.

Chitosan was functionalized with 4-((E)-2-(3-hydroxynaphthalen-2-yl)diazen-1-yl)benzoic acid by the coupling of the hydroxyl functional groups of chitosan with carboxylic acid group of the dye by DCC coupling method. The silver nanoparticles were prepared by sol-gel method of nanoparticle synthesis. Silver nanoparticle-encapsulated functionalized chitosan was prepared by the phase transfer method.

Colloidal silver nanoparticles were synthesised using sol-gel method and these nanoparticles were stabilised by encapsulated into the scaffolds of bovine serum albumin. Silver nanoparticles and encapsulated products were characterised by FTIR, NMR, XRD, TG, SEM and TEM analyses. Silver nanoparticle encapsulated bovine serum albumin showed highly potent antibacterial activity towards the bacterial strains such as Staphylococcus aureus, Serratia marcescens, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae.

The near infrared vibrational overtone absorption spectrum of liquid phase o-fluorophenol is examined in the region deltav=2, 3 and 4. The OH frequencies are compared with that of o-chlorophenol and phenol. Considering the relative electronegativities of all halogens, one might expect the order of intramolecular hydrogen bond strength for o-fluorophenol to be the greatest among all halogenophenols.

The near infrared overtone absorption spectrum of liquid phase nitromethane in the spectral region deltaV = 2-5 is reported. The observed spectrum is analysed using local mode model. It is shown that the observed CH local mode overtones and local-local combinations are well predicted by a C(3V) coupled oscillator Hamiltonian.
