Leishmania donovani and Pneumocystis jirovecii (carinii) diagnosed on bronchoalveolar lavage cytology in a liver transplant recipient with Cytomegalovirus infection.

Liver transplant recipients are prone to several infections, including lung infections, which can lead to substantial morbidity and mortality. Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) cytology is a rapid and sensitive diagnostic tool to identify the etiologic agents. We report a rare case of a 24-year-old male, post Live donor liver transplantation for autoimmune chronic liver disease, who presented with cough, fever, weight loss, and cavitatory lesion in lung.

Kyrle's Disease Presenting in an Extensive Distribution along Lines of Blaschko.

A 24-year-old lady presented with the complaints of asymptomatic dark, raised lesions over her body since past 4 years. Dermatological examination revealed hyperkeratotic, hyperpigmented papules in a Blaschkoid distribution over trunk and extremities. The hyperkeratotic lesions could be removed leaving behind a small crater.

A rare case of subungual melanoma.

A 51-year-old male presented with blackish discoloration of nails of 10 months duration. Examination revealed black dystrophic left thumb finger nail. Detailed examination showed a mass under the dystrophic nail.

Primary primitive neuroectodermal tumor of kidney: a rare case report with diagnostic challenge.

Primary primitive neuroectodermal tumors (PNETs) of the kidney are quite rare and can be mistaken for a wide variety of other small round blue cell tumors which includes rhabdomyosarcoma, Wilm's tumor, carcinoid, neuroblastoma, clear cell sarcoma of the kidney, lymphoma etc. Renal Ewings/PNET can occur in the age group from 4 to 61 years. Approximately, 90% of Ewing sarcoma (ES)/PNET have a specific t(11;22) which results in a chimeric EWS-FLI-1 fusion protein.

Is necropsy obsolete - an audit of the clinical autopsy over six decades: a study from Indian sub continent.

Introduction: Several studies have documented a decrease in the autopsy rate. This study was taken up to analyse the cause of mortality, the discrepancies between the ante mortem and post mortem diagnosis and the discrepancies between diagnoses according to the type of the disease over a period of six decades.

Materials And Methods: Autopsy reports and medical records were retrospectively analyzed over a 63 year period from 1947 to 2010.

Askin's Tumor: A Dual Case Study.

Askin's tumor is a rare tumor arising from the chest wall. It is a subset of Ewing sarcoma characterized histologically by the presence of small round blue cells. It is a highly malignant tumor with guarded prognosis, which is dependent upon the extension of tumor at the time of diagnosis.
