Long-Term Outcomes of Primary Chemoablation of Low-Grade Upper Tract Urothelial Carcinoma With UGN-101, a Mitomycin Reverse Thermal Gel.

Purpose: We evaluate long-term outcomes of primary chemoablation using a mitomycin reverse thermal gel (UGN-101) in patients with low-grade upper tract urothelial carcinoma.

Materials And Methods: Patients who participated in the OLYMPUS trial (IRB No. TC-UT-03, NCT02793128) and achieved a complete response (CR) after 6 weekly doses of UGN-101 were followed up to 12 months after initial CR.

Primary Chemoablation of Recurrent Low-Grade Intermediate-Risk Nonmuscle-Invasive Bladder Cancer With UGN-102: A Single-Arm, Open-Label, Phase 3 Trial (ENVISION).

Purpose: We evaluate the efficacy and safety of UGN-102 chemoablation for the primary treatment of patients with recurrent low-grade intermediate-risk nonmuscle-invasive bladder cancer.

Materials And Methods: ENVISION is an ongoing, multinational, single-arm, phase 3 study in patients with a biopsy-proven recurrence of untreated low-grade intermediate-risk nonmuscle-invasive bladder cancer. Patients received 6 weekly intravesical instillations of UGN-102 (mitomycin; outpatient setting) and were evaluated at 3 months.

Treatment of Low-grade Intermediate-risk Nonmuscle-invasive Bladder Cancer With UGN-102 ± Transurethral Resection of Bladder Tumor Compared to Transurethral Resection of Bladder Tumor Monotherapy: A Randomized, Controlled, Phase 3 Trial (ATLAS).

Purpose: Low-grade intermediate-risk nonmuscle-invasive bladder cancer is a chronic illness commonly treated by repetitive transurethral resection of bladder tumor. Materials And Methods: This prospective, randomized, phase 3 trial recruited patients with new or recurrent low-grade intermediate-risk nonmuscle-invasive bladder cancer to receive initial treatment with either UGN-102 once weekly for 6 weeks or transurethral resection of bladder tumor.

Epigenetic variation has been associated with a wide range of adaptive phenotypes in plants, but there exist few direct means for exploiting this variation. RNAi suppression of the plant-specific gene, MutS HOMOLOG1 (MSH1), in multiple plant species produces a range of developmental changes accompanied by modulation of defence, phytohormone and abiotic stress response pathways along with methylome repatterning. This msh1-conditioned developmental reprogramming is retained independent of transgene segregation, giving rise to transgene-null 'memory' effects.

Rectal Carcinoma Metastases to Multiple Skeletal Muscles-Role of F-18 FDG PET/CT.

Rectal carcinoma with metastasis to skeletal muscle is rare. So far, 16 cases of skeletal muscle metastasis from colorectal carcinoma have been documented of which only 5 were rectal carcinomas. We discuss here the case of a 69-year old male, a known case of mucinous adenocarcinoma status post neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy and abdomino perineal resection, who presented with low backache 4 months post surgery.

Smoking cessation interventions following acute coronary syndrome: a missed opportunity?

Background: It is recommended that general practitioners (GPs) offer cessation advice and pharmacological interventions to smokers with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). The study objective was to describe the extent to which this is done, and to describe outcomes by smoking status.

Design: Patients aged 30+ hospitalised for troponin-positive ACS from 2002 to 2009, discharged home alive, were identified in the Myocardial Ischaemia National Audit Project registry.

Varenicline as a smoking cessation aid in a Greek population: a subanalysis of an observational study.

Background: Greece has the highest proportion of smokers in the European Union with 42% of Greeks admitting that they smoke, based on a 2009 survey. This post-hoc analysis of a prospective, observational study evaluated the effectiveness and safety profile of the smoking cessation aid varenicline, as well as potential predictors of quit success in a Greek population.

Methods: Participants were prescribed varenicline according to the recommendations of the European Summary of Product Characteristics (1 mg twice daily).
