Introduction: Endovascular and percutaneous interventions are promising alternatives to surgical management of traumatic renal injuries and often avert the need for nephrectomies. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the role of interventional radiology and angiographic interventions in the management of renal vascular injury.

Materials And Methods: Our prospective study was performed over a period of 6 months.

Background: Lisfranc injuries are uncommon and can be challenging to manage. There is considerable variation in opinion regarding the mode of operative treatment of these injuries, with some studies preferring primary arthrodesis over traditional open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF). We aim to assess the clinical and radiological outcomes of the patients treated with ORIF in our unit.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) plays an important role in the characterization of vertebral lesions. Even if latest improvements in MRI permit to understand and suspect the nature of vertebral lesions and positron emission tomography computed tomography (PET-CT) gives information about lesion metabolism, biopsy is still needed in most cases. CT-guided percutaneous vertebral biopsy is a minimally invasive, safe and accurate procedure for definitive tissue diagnosis of a vertebral lesion.

Haemangioma is the most common benign tumour of the liver. However, an exophytic hepatic haemangioma, especially the pedunculated form, is very rare. Giant pedunculated haemangiomas are prone to complications because of the narrow size of the pedicle.

Secretory carcinoma (juvenile carcinoma) is one of the very rare breast malignancy reported to be prevalent in pediatric age group. We report imaging and clinicopathological features of secretory carcinoma breast with distant and axillary metastasis, in an 11-year-old girl, who presented with a painful lump in right breast. Ultrasound revealed a well-defined, partially microlobulated hypoechoic mass with skin and pectoralis muscle involvement and a suspicious morphology right axillary lymph node.

Malformations involving the brainstem are very rare and present with a varied spectrum of clinical symptoms due to multiple cranial nerve palsies and pyramidal tract involvement. Of these, pontine tegmental cap dysplasia is a very unusual malformation, characterized by ventral pons hypoplasia and an ectopic dorsal band of tissue, projecting into the fourth ventricle, from dorsal pontine tegmentum. A 4-year-old male child, presenting with left facial nerve palsy, revealed hypoplastic ventral pons and an ectopic structure on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Lung infections are an important cause of morbidity and mortality, particularly because of the rising antimicrobial resistance. According to the clinical setting, they can be categorized as community-acquired pneumonia and hospital-acquired pneumonia. Radiological patterns of lung infections are lobar consolidation, bronchopneumonia, interstitial pattern, and nodular pattern.

The application of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in pregnancy faced initial skepticism of physicians because of fetal safety concerns. The perceived fetal risk has been found to be unwarranted and of late, the modality has attained acceptability. Its role in diagnosing fetal anomalies is well recognized and following its safety certification in pregnancy, it is finding increasing utilization during pregnancy and puerperium.

Hallux valgus (HV) has been reported to affect 22-36% of adolescents, with a recurrence rate of around 30-40%. Operative treatment may be indicated in symptomatic deformities where conservative management has failed to halt progression of the deformity. There remains genuine concern with respect to high complication rates including recurrence and stiffness of the metatarsophalangeal joint following operative treatment in adolescents.

Unicornuate uterus with rudimentary horn occurs due to failure of complete development and partial fusion of one of the Müllerian ducts. Pregnancy in a non-communicating rudimentary horn is extremely rare, with a reported incidence of 1 in 76 000-150 000 pregnancies, and usually terminates in rupture during the first or second trimester. Clinical diagnosis of rudimentary horn pregnancy in a woman with history of normal vaginal delivery in prior gestations is difficult.

A renal tumor in a 14-month- old child, who was initially diagnosed as mesoblastic nephroma, but on review post surgery was diagnosed as hyper-differentiated metanephric stromal tumor, with its excellent prognostic outcome. An attempt is made to document imaging features that may enable one to suspect this rare condition. The literature is reviewed with emphasis on its distinction from its look-alikes in the pediatric age group.

Purpose: To compare the outcomes of conversion of non-tunneled to tunneled hemodialysis catheters with de novo placement of tunneled catheters and to determine the effect of time to conversion of non-tunneled to tunneled catheters on the incidence of complications.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective data analyses was performed on 1,154 patients who had de novo placement of tunneled hemodialysis catheters (control group) and 254 patients who underwent conversion of non-tunneled to tunneled catheters (study group). The outcomes including technical complications, infection, and catheter dysfunction were compared between the two groups.

We present here a case of an uncommon complex uterine anomaly - Obstructed HemiVagina with Ipsilateral Renal Agenesis (OHVIRA), also known as Herlyn-Werner-Wunderlich syndrome in a 14-year-old girl along with sonographic (trans-abdominal and trans labial), and MRI findings. The patient underwent surgery wherein imaging findings were confirmed. An MRI has proved to be of great help in correct diagnosis avoiding surgical interventions/ laparoscopy, which were needed in past to diagnose this rare anomaly.

Purpose: The aims were to determine if the maximum standardized uptake value (SUV(max)) of the primary tumor as determined by preoperative (18)F-fluoro-2-deoxyglucose ((18)F-FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) is an independent predictor of overall survival and to assess its prognostic value after stratification according to pathological staging.

Methods: A retrospective clinicopathologic review of 363 patients who had a preoperative (18)F-FDG PET done before undergoing attempted curative resection for early-stage (I & II) non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) was performed. Patients who had received any adjuvant or neoadjuvant chemotherapy or radiation therapy were excluded.

Hepatobiliary scintigraphy is primarily used to diagnose acute and chronic biliary tract disorders. However, its potential role in diagnosing unsuspected extrahepatic pathology is not well described. We present 2 adult patients with chronic abdominal pain who underwent hepatobiliary scintigraphy for evaluation of cystic duct patency.

We present our experience with elastic stable intramedullary nailing (ESIN) used in the single bone fixation of both bones forearm fractures in children. From May 2002 to July 2004, 20 children (14 boys and 6 girls), median age of 10 years (range 6-15 years) were treated with ESIN for 16 closed and 4 grade I open forearm fractures. All patients were reviewed clinically at a median follow-up of 20 months (range 6-30 months).

We reviewed 72 patients with 89 Denham total knee arthroplasties (Biomet, Warsaw, IN) (TKAs) 10 to 15 years after the operation. Of 8 TKAs that were considered as failures, 5 had been revised at the time of review for pain and aseptic loosening, and 3 others were considered to have failed because of breakage of the polyethylene tibial plateau, dislocation, and infection. Survival analysis suggested a 10-year survival rate of 92.
