Objectives: To investigate the changes in cholesterol levels during medical ovarian suppression.
Methods: We reviewed the medical records and blood test results of 187 female patients with breast cancer who underwent gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH)-agonist therapy for > 24 weeks at our hospital between 1 January 2018 and 31 December 2020. The study excluded patients in this cohort who had previously been diagnosed with dyslipidemia, diabetes, or had recently received lipid-lowering agents, resulting in a final sample size of 152 participants.
A perfluoropolyether (PFPE)-based microfluidic device with cross-junction microchannels was fabricated with the purpose of producing uniform droplets. The microchannels were developed using CO laser engraving. PFPE was chosen as the main material because of its excellent solvent resistance.

Numerous studies show that the abnormal activation of NLRP3 associates with the initiation and progression of various diseases. Hence, the NLRP3 inflammasome may be a promising therapeutic target for these diseases.

Anatomical dissection of 50 cadavers (32 males and 18 females) yielded precise measurements of PT length and width while also recording height and leg length. Among the lower limbs, 89% were suitable for at least one recommended graft suitability criterion.

We analyzed the efficacy of PAW as a bactericidal agent based on reactive species and pH. Immersion for 5 min in PAW15 (generated via plasma activation for 15 min) was determined as optimal for microbial decontamination of fresh produce.

The diameter of the fibrous microchannels in the micromixers was tuned by using an electrospun microfibrous disc with different microfiber diameters. The micromixer with a larger diameter of fibrous microchannels exhibited a better mixing performance than the others.

However, systemic administration of -NT spores cannot effectively treat tumors because of the limited intratumoral delivery of active spores. In this study, we demonstrated that multifunctional porous microspheres (MPMs) containing -NT spores have the potential for image-guided local tumor therapy.

A 15-year-old girl with congenital methemoglobinemia and no prior anesthetic history presented for the extraction of multiple impacted molars. Pulse oximetry values were expected to complicate the accurate monitoring of her oxygenation status in the perioperative period. An arterial line was placed for hemodynamic monitoring, arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis, and obtaining the methemoglobin (MetHgb) level and additional blood gases if clinically indicated.

Clinical presentations can range from mild radiographic changes to acute respiratory failure and hemodynamic instability. The rapidly progressive nature of the disease makes it important for clinicians to appropriately diagnose and manage patients who develop RPE.

The microfiber-templated microfluidic chip (MTMC) was used to produce nanoscale emulsions and spheres through multiple emulsification at many small micro-orifice junctions among microfibrous channels. The emulsion formation mechanisms in the MTMC were the cross-junction dripping or Y-junction splitting at the micro-orifice junctions.

In this study, the systematic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment (SELEX) process, combined with next-generation sequencing (NGS), was performed to select aptamers specific to the pesticide, diazinon, which was fixed on a sol-gel-coated nanoporous-anodized aluminum oxide membrane to overcome the immobilization effect of general method and simplify the elution step. The frequency of specific nucleotide sequences obtained after SELEX rounds was directly analyzed using NGS to eliminate the time-consuming cloning process used in the general SELEX methods.

Sol-gel-based mesopores allow the entry of target small molecules retained in their cavity and aptamers to bind to target molecules. Herein, sol-gel-based materials are applied to screen-selective aptamers for small molecules, such as pesticides. To enhance the efficiency of aptamer screening using a sol-gel, it is necessary to increase the binding surface.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFA point-of-care testing chip was developed for the colorimetric detection of inorganic mercury ion (Hg). The disposable chip fabricated by three-dimensional printing technology contains DNAzymes produced by rolling circle amplification (RCA); a color change caused by the enzymatic reaction between DNAzymes and the peroxidase substrate 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) is measured using a portable spectrophotometer. In the "turn-off"-type RCA reaction, the annealing of the T(12) primer that initiates the RCA reaction is blocked by the interaction of thymine with Hg; thus, the amount of amplified DNAzymes causing a color change is decreased depending on Hg concentration.
