In digital pathology, whole slide images (WSI) are crucial for cancer prognostication and treatment planning. WSI classification is generally addressed using multiple instance learning (MIL), alleviating the challenge of processing billions of pixels and curating rich annotations. Though recent MIL approaches leverage variants of the attention mechanism to learn better representations, they scarcely study the properties of the data distribution itself i.

The effectiveness of emerging personalized therapies depends on an accurate molecular diagnosis, for which the accurate estimation of the neoplastic cell percentage (NCP) is a crucial initial step. However, the established method for determining the NCP, manual counting by a pathologist, is time-consuming and not easily executable.

Hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining has been widely used as a fundamental and essential tool for diagnosing diseases and understanding biological phenomena by observing cellular arrangements and tissue morphological changes. However, conventional staining methods commonly involve solution-based, complex, multistep processes that are susceptible to user-handling errors. Moreover, inconsistent staining results owing to staining artifacts pose real challenges for accurate diagnosis.

However, there are no standard criteria for evaluating the morphologic features of DEL. We aimed to analyze the prognostic value of the starry-sky pattern (SSP) and its correlation with clinicopathologic and genetic features in 153 DEL cases.

We evaluated the EC and translocation statuses of , , and in 190 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) cases using fluorescence hybridization. EC genotype was sub-classified according to copy number-gained tumor cell ratio (EC1, >20% but ≤50%; EC2, >50%).

We report a case of mixed GCT composed of a choriocarcinoma and yolk sac tumor, which occurred in the liver of a 40-year-old woman. A large mass was detected by computed tomography solely in the liver.

To minimize the damage from contaminant accidents in rivers, early identification of the contaminant source is crucial. Thus, in this study, a framework combining Machine Learning (ML) and the Transient Storage zone Model (TSM) was developed to predict the spill location and mass of a contaminant source. The TSM model was employed to simulate non-Fickian Breakthrough Curves (BTCs), which entails relevant information of the contaminant source.

Methods: We carried out a retrospective review of patients who underwent sonography or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for OSD because of suspicion of dorsal midline cutaneous stigmata (presumed to be a marker for OSD) between January 2012 and June 2017. Information about patient characteristics, physical examination findings, spinal ultrasound and MRI results, neurosurgical notes, and accompanying congenital anomalies was collected.
Chitosan-based film-forming gel is regarded as a promising vehicle for topical delivery of antimicrobial agents to skin wounds, since it protects from microbial infection and the cationic polymer itself possesses antibacterial activity. In this study, possible synergistic interaction against common skin pathogens between the cationic polymer and tyrothricin (TRC), a cyclic polypeptide antibiotic, was investigated, by determining the concentration to inhibit 90% of bacterial isolates (MIC). The addition of the polysaccharide to TRC dramatically reduced the MIC values of TRC by 1/33 and 1/4 against both methicillin-resistant and methicillinsusceptible Staphylococcus aureus, respectively.

There is no proven medical therapy that changes the course of the disease. In previous studies, melittin was known for attenuation of hepatic injury, inflammation and hepatic fibrosis.

The purpose of this study was to characterize in vitro and in vivo pharmacological profile of DA-6886. We used various receptor binding assay, cAMP accumulation assay, organ bath experiment and colonic transit assay in normal and chemically constipated mice.

In particular, nephrotoxicity induced by cisplatin is closely associated with oxidative stress and inflammation.

It is characterized by tumor cells similar to chorionic trophoblastic cells, which react with human placental lactogen and human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). A 56-year-old woman presented with a palpable right breast mass without past history of trophoblastic tumors.

The sensing performance of the V-groove-structured SnO(2) nanowire sensors was highly dependent on the geometrical dimension of the groove, being superior to those of their conventional trench-structured counterparts. Pt nanoparticles were decorated on the surface of the networked SnO(2) nanowires via γ-ray radiolysis to enhance the sensing performances of the V-groove sensors whose V-groove widths had been optimized.

NO2 sensing characteristics of Pt-functionalized SnO2 nanowires were compared with those of bare SnO2 nanowires. The results demonstrate that the Pt functionalization greatly enhances the sensitivity and response time in SnO2 nanowire-based gas sensors.

We find that donor-acceptor interactions are very dependent on the nature of the connectivity of these groups to the main pentaphenylene chain. When the oxadiazole and triphenylamine units were substituted on opposite sides of the pi-conjugated pentaphenylene chromophore, photoluminescence with long lifetimes typical of exciplex-like species was observed, while being significantly quenched by intermolecular charge separation between the substituents.
