Purpose: This study aimed to investigate whether the serum extracellular newly identified receptor for advanced glycation end products binding protein (EN-RAGE) and the soluble form of RAGE (sRAGE) measured at diagnosis are associated with all-cause mortality in patients with microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) and granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA).

Materials And Methods: Serum EN-RAGE and sRAGE were measured in 75 immunosuppressive drug-naïve MPA and GPA patients using an immunoassay, with their clinical and laboratory data reviewed. The optimal cut-off point of EN-RAGE and sRAGE was calculated by finding the threshold with the maximum sum of sensitivity and specificity.

Although gliomatosis cerebri (GC) has been removed as an independent tumor type from the WHO classification, its extensive infiltrative pattern may harbor a unique biological behavior. However, the clinical implication of GC in the context of the 2021 WHO classification is yet to be unveiled. This study investigated the incidence, clinicopathologic and imaging correlations, and prognostic implications of GC in adult-type diffuse glioma patients.

Aims: The cerebellum is involved in higher-order mental processing as well as sensorimotor functions. Although structural abnormalities in the cerebellum have been demonstrated in schizophrenia, neuroimaging techniques are not yet applicable to identify them given the lack of biomarkers. We aimed to develop a robust diagnostic model for schizophrenia using radiomic features from T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (T1-MRI) of the cerebellum.

Article Synopsis
  • This study introduces a new way to classify patients with a type of brain cancer called IDH-wildtype glioblastomas by looking at how much of the tumor is removed during surgery.
  • It involves 622 patients from one hospital and another 536 patients from three different hospitals, all of whom received standard cancer treatments and had tests to check their tumor characteristics.
  • The new classification model shows that younger patients with certain tumor features have a better chance of living longer after surgery, compared to older patients or those with less successful surgeries.
