Spontaneous intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) is a major complication associated with oral anticoagulation which results in a high mortality rate, and the incidence of anticoagulant-induced sICH has increased markedly, so it is necessary to investigate the risk of anticoagulation-related sICH in a real-world setting. We aimed to investigate the incidence and risk factors of oral anticoagulant-related sICH using a common data model (CDM), and to determine whether a clinical study using the CDM would be comparable to conventional studies. After converting the various clinical codes of 12,821 patients taking oral anticoagulants, such as warfarin and non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOACs), into the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) CDM format, we analyzed the incidence and risk factors of sICH.

However, there is ongoing debate about the most effective type of bypass surgery. We aimed to analyze the long-term outcomes of combined and indirect bypasses for MMD patients through intra-individual comparisons.

In pepper genome, five SnRK2 genes with sequence homology to CaSnRK2.6 showed distinct expression patterns across various pepper organs and in response to treatments with ABA, drought, mannitol, and salt.

The brain opioid theory of social attachment (BOTSA) supports the idea that involves increased activity of enkephalins and beta-endorphins.

As parasitic infection with was found in 21 juvenile blacktip reef sharks () at the Lotteworld aquarium in Seoul, South Korea, we aimed to investigate the anatomical features and treatment protocols for in this study. The parasites were sampled and fixed in 10% neutral-buffered formalin, and examined using light and scanning electron microscopy.

The data came from the Korean Cardiac Arrest Research Consortium registry, with 2679 patients who underwent OHCA aged 18 or above with the return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC). The dependent variable was a favorable neurological outcome (Cerebral Performance Category score 1-2), and 68 independent variables were included, e.

If VVE is undetected or does not grow on the vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) selection medium, or both, it can acquire resistance upon exposure to vancomycin. This characteristic is clinically important for the treatment and prevention of VRE.

We explored the role of telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) genetic alterations and hepatitis B virus (HBV) integration, both known major contributors to HCC, in sex-specific risk for HBV-related HCC.
Methods: We examined 310 HBV-related HCC tissues to investigate sex-specific TERT promoter (TERT-pro) mutations and HBV integration profiles, stratified by sex and age, and validated with single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data.
Background And Objectives: The outcomes and characteristics of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) vary across geographic regions. The etiologies and prognoses of OHCA in Asian populations remain less established. This study aimed to investigate the etiologies and clinical characteristics of patients successfully resuscitated after OHCA and to identify predictors of survival outcomes.

However, a fundamental understanding of metabolomic and metataxonomic mechanisms in goats under HS conditions is lacking. Here, we analyzed the rumen metabolomics, metataxonomics, and serum metabolomics of goats (n = 10, body weight: 41.

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of heat stress, assessed by the temperature-humidity index (THI), on the growth performance, physiological response, carcasses, and hematological traits of broilers. A total of 200 broilers (between 17 and 31 days old) were kept in thermoneutral conditions (21 °C; 60% relative humidity, RH) for 3 days during the adaptation period, followed by 14 days of exposure to the experimental treatments.

Scaling phage therapy to an industrial level requires efficient mass-production methods, particularly in optimizing the seed culture process. In this study, we investigated large-scale E.

One promising strategy to address these challenges is upcycling, which involves recycling transition metal-based waste from various industries. In this study, a heterostructure electrocatalyst for anion exchange membrane water electrolysis is developed by upcycling iron-based waste from the automotive industry.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed fifty-nine consecutive patients with inoperable EHCC treated with PBT. The median prescribed dose of PBT was 50 GyE (range, 45-66 GyE) in 10 fractions.
Introduction: The safety and efficacy of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) ablation with the HELIOSTAR multielectrode radiofrequency (RF) balloon catheter have been demonstrated in European studies; data from elsewhere are lacking. This prospective, multicenter study conducted in the United States, Italy, and China investigated the safety and efficacy of pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) using HELIOSTAR in drug-refractory symptomatic PAF.
Methods: The primary effectiveness endpoint (PEE) was 12-month freedom from documented atrial fibrillation/atrial flutter/atrial tachycardia plus freedom from acute procedural failure, nonstudy catheter failure, repeat ablation failure, direct current cardioversion (DCCV), and Class I/III antiarrhythmic drug (AAD) failure.
Purpose: We investigated the factors that affect the occurrence of sinusoidal obstruction syndrome (SOS) and the effect of SOS on the patient's perioperative outcomes through histological review of liver resection specimens from patients who underwent chemotherapy.
Methods: From December 2007 to December 2020, liver specimens from patients who underwent liver resection for colorectal liver metastasis after neoadjuvant chemotherapy were analyzed regarding liver damage in the nontumorous lesion. Through pathological review, patients with grade 1-3 sinusoidal dilatation were categorized into the SOS (+) group, compared to a control group (grade 0, SOS [-]).
Introduction And Objectives: The short-term mortality of severe alcoholic hepatitis (SAH) is high, but there are no effective treatments to improve short-term mortality other than corticosteroids. This study investigated the effects of adding rifaximin to standard treatment in patients with SAH.
Material And Methods: In this randomized controlled open-label trial, patients with SAH (Maddrey's discriminant function≥32) were randomized to the rifaximin or control group.
Two novel bacterial strains, 273M-4 and Sam97, were isolated from seawater in the Yellow Sea, Muan-gun, South Korea, and identified as members of the genus Thalassotalea. Both strains were Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped, non-motile, non-flagellated, and oxidase- and catalase-positive. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strains 273M-4 and Sam97 were most closely related to Thalassotalea ponticola KCTC 42155, with sequence similarities of 97.

While numerous approaches have been proposed to build early warning systems, these approaches primarily focus on predicting the future risk of septic shock, irrespective of its precise onset timing. Such early prediction systems without consideration of timeliness fall short in assisting clinicians in taking proactive measures.
