Comparative study of oral and vaginal misoprostol for induction of labour, maternal and foetal outcome.

Background: Misoprostol is a new promising agent for cervical ripening and induction of labour .The ideal dose, route and frequency of administration of misoprostol are still under investigation. Although, vaginal application of misoprostol has been validated as a reasonable mean of induction, there is a patient resistance to digital examination and there is a risk of ascending infection.

A rare case of primary malignant melanoma of clivus with extensive skeletal metastasis demonstrated on 18F-FDG PET/CT.

Malignant melanoma of the clivus is a rare entity, for which there is little evidence-based literature for guiding clinicians to understand the importance of disease staging via noninvasive imaging strategy. This report highlights the case of a 55-year-old lady with histopathologically confirmed melanocytic melanoma of the clivus-postoperative status, with multiple skeletal metastasis, demonstrated on 2-deoxy-2-[18F] fluoro-D-glucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT scan). The experience gained with this patient demonstrates the feasibility and usefulness of this noninvasive application in accurate staging and hence, correct decision making regarding further treatment.

Role of lymphoscintigraphy in diagnosis and management of patients with leg swelling of unclear etiology.

Background: To study the utility of lymphoscintigraphy in detection of lymphatic obstruction in patients with leg swelling of unclear etiology, selection of site for nodo venous shunt procedure, and follow-up lymphoscintigraphic documentation of improved lymph flow in surgically treated limb.

Materials And Methods: Twenty four consecutive patients with leg swelling, 10 male, 14 female with mean age 47 years, range from 13 years to 74 years underwent lymphoscintigraphy. All patients were referred from Department of Plastic Surgery, after initial work-up, and routine investigations to rule out the other causes of leg swelling.

Levels of GFR and protein-induced hyperfiltration in kidney donors: a single-center experience in India.

Background: Some studies have shown that the normal range of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) was lower in an Indian population than in western populations. To verify these findings and determine whether it is physiological or an expression of subclinical disease, we measured GFR in a cohort of healthy Indian adults by using more stringent criteria to define "healthy" than used in previous studies.

Study Design: Cross-sectional study.
