Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to explore how oxhorn cupping therapy (OHCT) impacts rheumatoid arthritis by analyzing proteins in the body fluid collected from patients after treatment.
  • Thirty patients underwent OHCT, and researchers isolated and examined exosomes from the fluid to identify changes in protein expression, revealing 300 differentially expressed proteins (DEPs).
  • Key pathways and genes associated with the treatment effects were identified, particularly related to signal transduction, with a notable shift in certain protein levels during and after treatment.
  • Overall, the findings suggest that OHCT may have therapeutic effects on rheumatoid arthritis by altering exosomal proteins and pathways involved in the disease.

Background: Serum carbohydrate antigen 50 (CA50) is an auxiliary diagnostic marker for various solid tumors, but it remains unclear whether CA50 in pleural fluid can assist in the diagnosis of malignant pleural effusion (MPE). This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of pleural fluid CA50 for MPE in pleural effusion patients with undetermined causes.

Methods: This study prospectively recruited pleural effusion patients with undetermined causes who visited the Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University between September 2018 and July 2021.

We aimed to calculate disability-adjusted life expectancy (DALE) for Korean older adults based on their sex, educational attainment, and residential region across their cognitive status. We included 3,854 participants (aged 65-91 years) from the Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging's seventh survey data. The participant's cognitive function status (normal, moderately impaired, or severely impaired) was determined based on cognitive examination and physical function independence, which was used to calculate their DALE.
