Background: Pulmonary nodule growth rate assessment is critical in the management of subsolid pulmonary nodules (SSNs) during clinical follow-up. The present study aimed to develop a model to predict the growth rate of SSNs.

Methods: A total of 273 growing SSNs with clinical information and 857 computed tomography (CT) scans were retrospectively analyzed.

Article Synopsis
  • Cancers are tricky diseases where bad cells grow too much, and the immune system doesn't work right.
  • Immunotherapy is a treatment that aims to wake up immune cells to fight the cancer by using methods like immune checkpoint blockers and CAR-T therapy.
  • While immunotherapy has helped some patients, there's still a need for better treatments and understanding how to use them together to make them work even better.

Genetic analysis is an important part of undergraduate genetics teaching and tetrad analysis is unique and integral for genetic analysis of fungi. The ordered tetrad in Neurospora is an important material for genetic analysis, which can not only be used to study recombination between genes and centromeres, but also between genes themselves, as well as study the fine cross patterns between non-sister chromatids of homologous chromosomes. However, in textbooks and related professional journals, there is a lack of specific introduction to the induction methods of the seven basic class asci used in two genes analysis.

Extensive evidence suggests that the genetic etiologies of breast cancer (BC) and ovarian cancer (OC) show a certain degree of similarity. This study aimed to find out whether the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of genes SNAI1 and TWIST1 may affect BC and OC susceptibility. A total of 7 tagging‑SNPs (tSNPs) were directly genotyped in 1,161 BC cases, 286 OC cases and 1,273 cancer‑free controls among Chinese Han women.

Objective: To explore the molecular-level mechanism on the hematopoiesis effect of Angelicae sinensis Radix (ASR) with systems-based interactome analysis.

Methods: This systems-based interactome analysis was designed to enforce the workflow of "ASR (herb)→compound→target protein→internal protein actions→ending regulated protein for hematopoiesis". This workflow was deployed with restrictions on regulated proteins expresses in bone marrow and anemia disease and futher validated with experiments.

Article Synopsis
  • Endometrial cancer (EC) is influenced by gene interactions and environmental factors, with TGF-β signaling being crucial in its development.
  • A study examined genetic polymorphisms in TGF-β-related genes (TGFB1, TGFBR1, SNAI1, TWIST1) among 516 EC cases and 707 controls, discovering certain gene variants linked to reduced EC risk.
  • Findings indicated that specific TGFBR1 variants had protective effects against EC, and the best model for assessing risk involved a combination of TGFB1 and TGFBR1 gene variants, highlighting the complexity of EC susceptibility influenced by genetic factors.
