In inner ear hair cells, the stereocilia are inserted into a dense F-actin-enriched meshwork named the cuticular plate, which provides support to the stereocilia. Enah/Vasp-like (EVL) was shown to localize at the cuticular plate, and evl knockdown leads to disrupted cuticular plate and disorganized stereocilia in Xenopus hair cells. In the present work, we show that Evl transcripts are specifically expressed in mouse hair cells, and EVL is localized to the cuticular plate.

The purpose of this study was to design a drug-in-adhesive (DIA) patch for transdermal delivery of ketoprofen, using hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesive as the matrix of the patch. The adhesion properties and skin permeation of the patches were examined, and in vivo pharmacokinetics and tissue distribution of patches were evaluated. The novel ketoprofen patch with high adhesion was prepared by holt-melt method.

Recently, it has been reported that programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) expressed on neutrophils is involved in both inflammatory organ dysfunction and immunoparalysis in sepsis. However, there is a dearth of strategies to specifically target PD-L1 in neutrophils in vivo .

Objective: Combining the results of the current study and the prior ones, we aimed to investigate the possible relationship between fast eating and the risk of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).
Methods: This is a sub-analysis of a multicenter cross-sectional study of 1965 participants investigated the association between fast eating and MASLD in Chinese.
In deep-learning-based process monitoring, obtaining an effective feature representation is a critical step in constructing a reliable deep-learning monitoring model. Conventional deep-learning methods like stacked auto-encoders (SAEs) capture feature representation by minimizing the data reconstruction errors, which lack the expression of essential information and ultimately lead to degradation of the monitoring performance. To solve this problem, variational discriminative SAE (VDSAE) is proposed in this article.

The blood-brain barrier (BBB) is mainly composed of endothelial cells, which exhibit low endocytosis and high efflux pumps. Although they are connected by continuous tight junctions and serve as a protective insulation, the BBB does not prevent the development of brain metastases from non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Background: Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) contributes to disability and imposes heavy burdens, while subclinical DPN is lack of attention so far. We aimed to investigate the relationship between vitamin D and distinct subtypes of subclinical DPN in type 2 diabetes (T2DM) patients.
Methods: This cross-sectional study included 3629 T2DM inpatients who undertook nerve conduction study to detect subclinical DPN in Zhongshan Hospital between March 2012 and December 2019.
Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis L.), one of the most widely used cool-season turfgrasses around the world, is sensitive to powdery mildew (PM; Blumeria graminis). The PM strain identification and regulation mechanisms of Kentucky bluegrass in response to pathogens still remain unclear.

Material And Methods: DICOM format data from 60 cases with C1-C2 instability were obtained after computed tomography (CT) was performed. A total of 32 cases underwent surgery via the free-hand technique, whereas 28 cases underwent surgery via a 3D-printed "pointing-drilling" guide template.
Primary cilia are enriched in signaling receptors, and defects in their formation or function can induce conditions such as polycystic kidney disease, postaxial hexadactyly, and microphthalmia. Mammalian Hedgehog (Hh) signaling is important in the development of primary cilia, and TMEM216, a transmembrane protein that localizes to the base of cilia, is also implicated in ciliogenesis in zebrafish. Here, we found that -deficient mice had impaired Hh signaling and displayed typical ciliopathic phenotypes.

The recurrence of GBM is almost inevitable. As an adjuvant option to surgery, intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) is gaining increasing attention in the treatment of glioma.

This study employs the Slacks-Based Measure- Directional Distance Function (SBM-DDF) to estimate the efficiency of medical resource allocation (MRAE) in China, using panel data from 30 provinces during 2009-2021. Moreover, a multi-period Difference in differences (DID) model is developed to explore the effect of the comprehensive medical reform pilot (CMRP) strategy on efficiency of medical resource allocation in China.

Caffeic acid (CA), a phenolic compound derived from various plants, has been proved to be essential in neuroprotection, but its role in septic organ damage is unclear. This research aimed to investigate whether CA protects against organ injury in a mouse model of cecal ligation and puncture (CLP).

Notably, these studies rely heavily on computational fluid dynamics methods, a valid approach but limited by its lack of empirical physical data. Additionally, the majority of these studies concentrate on the extrados, or outer curve of the elbow, neglecting the intrados or the inner curve.

Recently, BEX2 was found to be localized in cytosol and/or mitochondria and regulate apoptosis in cancer cells and tumor growth. However, the molecular mechanism underlying its roles in cancer cells remains unclear.

Accumulating evidence indicates that circular RNAs (circRNAs), featured with non-linear, closed-loop structures, play pivotal roles in tumorigenesis and regulate cell biological processes, such as proliferation, migration, and invasion, by acting as microRNA (miRNA) sponges.
