Association between frailty and life satisfaction among older people in Shandong, China: the differences in age and general self-efficacy.

Background: Frailty and other functional declines may be related to life satisfaction (LS) in the general elderly population. This study aims to investigate the association between frailty and LS among older individuals (age ≥60) and the impacts of age and general self-efficacy on the relationships.

Methods: Using data from the 2017 Survey of the Shandong elderly Family Health Service, a cross-sectional study was conducted and 7070 older people aged 60+ were analysed.

The effect of situational hazard level on pedestrian hazard perception: Evidence from event-related potentials.

The effect of situational hazardous level on pedestrian hazard perception was investigated using event-related potential (ERP) technique. Images of three types of real traffic situations were used as test materials, including non-hazard situations, low-hazard situations and high-hazard situations. The existence of hazard in situations shown in the images was determined by 29 students (including 16 female) via button pushing.

An exploratory spatial analysis of overweight and obesity among children and adolescents in Shandong, China.

Objective: Identifying the spatial patterns of childhood overweight/obesity (OW/OB) can help to guide resource allocation for preventive intervention in China. This study aims to estimate rates of childhood OW/OB across counties within Shandong Province, using geographic techniques to identify sex-specific spatial patterns of childhood OW/OB as well as the presence of spatial clusters.

Computed tomography-guided preoperative semi-rigid hook-wire localization of small pulmonary nodules: 74 cases report.

Objectives: The study aimed to retrospectively evaluate the success rate, utility, practicality and results of pre-operative CT (computed tomography)-guided semi-rigid single hook-wire placement and the pathology results of small pulmonary nodules (SPN).

Materials And Methods: Seventy-four patients with 81 small pulmonary nodules underwent CT-guided semi-rigid single hook wire localization consecutively between 2016 and 2017 were reviewed. VATS (video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery) resection of lung tissue containing each pulmonary nodule and were performed in the direction of hook wire.

Rapid quantitation and identification of the chemical constituents in Danhong Injection by liquid chromatography coupled with orbitrap mass spectrometry.

Danhong Injection (DHI) is a Chinese medicine patent drug to treat cardiovascular diseases. It is derived from the herbal medicines Dan-shen and Hong-hua. The bioactive compounds of DHI are polar phenolic acids and flavonoid glycosides.

Gender differences in the association between body mass index and health-related quality of life among adults:a cross-sectional study in Shandong, China.

Background: This study aims to assess the association between body mass index (BMI) and health-related quality of life (HRQOL), and to further explore gender differences in BMI-HRQOL association among adults.

Methods: We used data from the fifth Health Service Survey of Shandong Province, which was part of China's National Health Service Survey (NHSS), a total of 27,257 adults aged 18 and over were interviewed. The HRQOL was measured using the EuroQOL-5 Dimensions (EQ-5D) instrument.

Synthesis of surface modified FeO super paramagnetic nanoparticles for ultra sound examination and magnetic resonance imaging for cancer treatment.

In the present work, FeO nanoparticles with superparamagnetic properties were prepared and capped by using Chitosan. The synthesized NPs were studied by using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Average particle size and surface charge of the synthesized NPs were characterized by using Malvern Zetasizer instrument.

Long-term effects of post-fire restoration types on nitrogen mineralisation in a Dahurian larch (Larix gmelinii) forest in boreal China.

Fire is an important disturbance agent in Chinese boreal forests but the long-term effects of wildfires on soil nitrogen (N) net mineralisation rates (R) in natural versus human-assisted restorations are not well understood. In this study, we analysed upper (0-10cm) and lower layer (10-20cm) soil samples from natural restoration and afforestation plots in a Dahurian larch (Larix gmelinii) forest in north-eastern China 29years after a mega fire disturbance. Our results showed that the soil inorganic N (NH-N and NO-N) pool of the upper and lower layers of the regenerated plots remained significantly lower than in unburned control plots.

Effects of hazard types on drivers' risk rating and hazard response in a video-based hazard perception task.

Hazard perceptioniscrucial for identifying potential hazards on the road, and how quick drivers can respond to the hazard partiallyrelies on their risk rating of the hazard after they detect it. Although many studies have attempted to reveal the relationship between drivers'response latencies and their risk ratings, this relationship has not been extensivelyexplored under different hazard types. The presentstudy addresses this issue using a video-based hazard perception task.

Reliability and validity of the Multidimensional Driving Style Inventory in Chinese drivers.

Objective: The Multidimensional Driving Style Inventory (MDSI) has been widely used in assessing the associations between driving styles and traffic violations and accidents in different cultural contexts. Due to the lack of a valid instrument to assess driving style, studies concerning driving style and its influence factors are limited in China. Thus, this study aimed to adapt and validate a Chinese version of the MDSI.

Novel low-cost carboxymethyl cellulose microspheres with excellent fertilizer absorbency and release behavior for saline-alkali soil.

Saline-alkali soil and fertilizer loss severely restrict agriculture on the Songnen Plain in China. To resolve this problem, carboxymethyl cellulose immobilized slow-release fertilizer microspheres (CFM) with homogeneity pore structure, high porosity, biodegradable biological macromolecules and excellent fertilizer absorbency were synthesized by the combination of inverse emulsion polymerization and microfluidic method. By optimizing the synthesis conditions, the water absorption of CFM reached 8725 g g in deionized water.

Soil contamination with antibiotics in a typical peri-urban area in eastern China: Seasonal variation, risk assessment, and microbial responses.

The prevalence and persistence of antibiotics in soils has become an emerging environmental issue and an increasing threat to soil security and global public health. The problem is more severe in areas undergoing rapid urbanization; however, the ecological risks of antibiotics, seasonal variability, and associated soil microbial responses in peri-urban soils have not been well-explored. The seasonal soil sampling campaigns were conducted in a typical peri-urban watershed in eastern China to investigate distribution of antibiotics.

The Relationship between Socioeconomic Status, Mental Health, and Need for Long-Term Services and Supports among the Chinese Elderly in Shandong Province-A Cross-Sectional Study.

This study aims to clarify the association between socioeconomic status (SES), mental health, and the need for long-term services and support (NLTSS) of the Chinese elderly, and further, to provide evidence-based suggestions for the development of the long-term services and support (LTSS) system in China. A cross-sectional survey using a multi-stage random sampling method was conducted in Shandong Province, China, in 2017. Data were collected from seniors aged over 60 years old through questionnaires by face-to face interviews.

Trends of SHBG and ABP levels in male farmers: Influences of environmental fluoride exposure and ESR alpha gene polymorphisms.

A number of epidemiological studies have reported that chronic exposure to high concentrations of fluoride not only causes dental and skeletal fluorosis but additionally affects serum levels of reproductive hormones. However, possible interaction between fluoride exposure and estrogen receptor alpha (ESRα) gene polymorphisms on sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) and androgen binding protein (ABP) of male farmers has not been detailed. Here, we conducted a cross-sectional study including 348 male farmers with different fluoride exposure levels from drinking water in Henan province of China to explore effects of fluoride exposure and ESRα genetic variation on serum SHBG and ABP levels.

Background: To investigate whether PET/CT-guided bone marrow biopsy adds complementary information for evaluation of bone marrow involvement (BMI) in newly diagnosed lymphomas.

Methods: Patients with newly diagnosed lymphomas that received both F-FDG PET/CT and bone marrow biopsy (BMB) were included in this retrospective study. PET/CT classification of bone lesions was classified as isolated, multifocal (2 lesions or more), diffuse (homogeneous uptake of the entire axial skeleton), or negative.

Rural-urban difference in blood pressure measurement frequency among elderly with hypertension: a cross-sectional study in Shandong, China.

Background: Blood pressure measurement is the first step in preventing and controlling hypertension. The objective of this study is to examine the rural-urban difference towards blood pressure measurement among elderly with hypertension.

Draft genome sequence data of a tigecycline-resistant ST93 clinical strain isolated from bloodstream infection.

Here we report data on the draft genome sequence of a tigecycline-resistant ST93 clinical isolate TREC1 producing KPC-2 carbapenemase from China. The draft genome sequence of TREC1 consisted of 74 contigs that comprised 5,322,835 bp, and the overall GC content of this strain amounted to 54.63%.

EGFR-TKI-based vs non-EGFR-TKI-based adjuvant therapy in resected non-small-cell lung cancer with EGFR mutations: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

Purpose: The great efficacy of EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs) has been identified in patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who harbor EGFR mutations. However, it has not yet been established in postoperative adjuvant therapy.

Patients And Methods: To compare the prognosis and toxicity of EGFR-TKI-based adjuvant therapy and non-EGFR-TKI-based adjuvant therapy in resected NSCLC with sensitive EGFR mutations, we performed this meta-analysis of all eligible randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
