Tumor-initiating cells (TICs) possess the ability to evade anti-tumor immunity, potentially explaining many failures of cancer immunotherapy. Here, we identify CD49f as a prominent marker for discerning TICs in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), outperforming other commonly used TIC markers. Acute type A aortic dissection remains a deadly and elusive condition, with risk factors such as hypertension, bicuspid aortic valves, and genetic predispositions. P450 peroxidase activities are valued for their ability to catalyze complex chemical transformations using economical HO; however, they have been largely underexplored compared to their monooxygenase and peroxygenase activities. In this study, we identified an unconventional P450 enzyme, PtmB, which catalyzes the dimerization of purine nucleobases and tryptophan-containing diketopiperazines (TDKPs), yielding C3-nucleobase pyrroloindolines and nucleobase-TDKP dimers. Unlike typical TDKP P450 enzymes reliant on NAD(P)H cofactors and electron transfer systems, PtmB, and its analogs exhibit remarkable peroxidase activity in synthesizing adenine and other modified 6-aminopurine nucleobase-TDKP dimers.

Pure-halide reduced-dimensional perovskites, featuring large exciton binding energy and tunable bandgap, show great potential for high-efficiency deep-blue perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs). However, their efficiency, particularly in the low n-value phase domain ("n" represents the number of octahedral sheets), lags behind analogous perovskite emitters. Herein, it is demonstrated that the vibration of edge-dangling octahedra in the low n-value phase activates notorious exciton-phonon (EP) coupling, thereby deteriorating efficiency.

Microbial secondary metabolites are crucial in plant-microorganism interactions, regulating plant growth and stress responses. In this study, we found that cyclo(-Phe-Pro), a proline-based cyclic dipeptide secreted by many microorganisms, alleviated aluminum toxicity in wheat roots by increasing root growth, decreasing callose deposition, and decreasing Al accumulation. Cyclo(-Phe-Pro) also significantly reduced Al-induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) with HO, O, and •OH levels decreasing by 19.

Ischemic cardiac injury triggers a significant inflammatory response, activating and mobilizing cardiac fibroblasts (CFs), which ultimately contributes to myocardial fibrosis. In this study, we investigated the role of ANO1, a calcium-activated chloride channel (CaCC) protein, in regulating CFs migration and adhesion under inflammatory conditions. Our results demonstrated that ANO1 knockdown significantly attenuated TGF-β- and IL-6-induced adhesion and migration of CFs.

The lipid-based endocannabinoid (eCB) system regulates a host of developmental, physiological, and pathological processes in the mammalian brain, and recent studies have suggested that dysfunction of eCB system may contribute to the neuropathology of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). However, specific contributions to ASD-related developmental, cognitive, and behavioral phenotypes remain largely unexplored. The hydroboration of alkynes into vinylboronate esters is a vital transformation, but achieving high chemoselectivity of targeted functional groups and an appreciable turnover number is a considerable challenge. Herein, we develop two dynamically regulating dual-catalytic-site copper clusters (CuNC and CuNC) bearing N-heterocyclic thione ligands that endow CuNC and CuNC catalysts with performance. In particular, the performance of microcrystalline CuNC in hydroboration is characterized by a high turnover number (77786), a high chemoselectivity, high recovery and reusability under mild conditions.
