MicroRNAs (miRNAs), a class of small non-coding RNAs, play a vital role in regulating gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. Their discovery has profoundly impacted therapeutic strategies, particularly in cancer treatment, where RNA therapeutics, including miRNA-based targeted therapies, have gained prominence. Advances in RNA sequencing technologies have facilitated a comprehensive exploration of miRNAs-from fundamental research to their diagnostic and prognostic potential in various diseases, notably cancers.

Cervical cancer is a major cause of morbidity and mortality particularly in low- and mid-income countries. This review synthesizes existing knowledge on cervical cancer, HPV infection, and HPV vaccination accumulated over the past decade (2015-2024), highlighting disparities in awareness and prevention strategies globally. Education level correlates with HPV vaccine awareness, yet mere familiarity with cervical cancer doesn't ensure understanding of its severity.

Article Synopsis
  • - Cervical cancer (CC) is a significant global health issue, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), where effective prevention, diagnosis, and treatment strategies are urgently needed to improve outcomes with minimal side effects.
  • - The study highlights the integration of biotechnology and artificial intelligence (AI) as promising advancements in CC management, enhancing screening accuracy and patient care through innovative methods like MobileODT and precision therapies.
  • - Despite these advancements, further clinical research is necessary to successfully implement these technologies in real-world settings, aiming to reduce the global burden of cervical cancer and enhance the lives of women, especially in LMICs.

Despite improvements in cervical cancer diagnosis and treatment, the prognosis for cervical cancer patients remains dismal due to the development of drug resistance, metastasis, and invasion resulting leading to treatment failure. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), a class of RNA transcripts have been reported in mediating carcinogenesis as well as drug, and radio-resistance in tumor cells. These lncRNAs regulate various cancer hallmarks and contribute to the development of therapeutic resistance.

Fermented products contain probiotic organisms that have beneficial and therapeutic effects on the gastrointestinal tract. The main objective of the study is to isolate probiotic bacteria from fermented sour traditional rice water and to evaluate their probiotic activity. The microbes were isolated from the fermented rice water and the characterization of the organisms was determined using MALDI-TOF MS.

As triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) lacks a specific target, exploration of abnormally expressed genes during the progression of TNBC is important for a better understanding of tumorigenesis and to find a specific target. We intended to figure out genes associated with TNBC, which can provide unique insights into gene dysregulation in TNBC while also pointing to new possible therapeutic targets for TNBC. A meta-analysis of multiple TNBC mRNA profiles was performed to identify consistently differentially expressed genes (CDGs).

Background: Functional foods, neutraceuticals and natural antioxidants have established their potential roles in the protection of human health and diseases. Thymoquinone (TQ), the main bioactive component of Nigella sativa seeds (black cumin seeds), a plant derived neutraceutical was used by ancient Egyptians because of their ability to cure a variety of health conditions and used as a dietary food supplement. Owing to its multi targeting nature, TQ interferes with a wide range of tumorigenic processes and counteracts carcinogenesis, malignant growth, invasion, migration, and angiogenesis.
