Novel biosynthesized zinc selenite photocatalysts for enhanced degradation of oxytetracycline and Rhodamine B dye with antibacterial activity.

A novel biosynthesis approach was used to develop zinc selenite (ZnSeO) catalysts from the plant extracts of Nephrolepis cordifolia (ZnSeO:NC) and Ziziphus jujube (ZnSeO:ZJ) using hydrothermal method. This study investigates the structural, morphological, and optical properties of pure and biosynthesized ZnSeO catalysts. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis confirms the presence of an orthorhombic phase in both catalyst types.

Screening for the loss of protective sensation in people without a history of diabetic foot ulceration: Validation of two simple tests in India.

The ability of the Ipswich touch test (IpTT) and Vibratip to detect loss of protective sensation (LOPS) was tested against a neurothesiometer in an outpatient diabetic population without a history for ulceration. Our results support the use of the IpTT as a screening tool for LOPS, but not of Vibratip.

Impact of naturopathy, yoga, and dietary interventions as adjuvant chemotherapy in the management of stage II and III adenocarcinoma of the colon.

Introduction: Naturopathy, Yoga and Dietary interventions are known to improve the quality of life in cancer patients. We aim to evaluate the effect of naturopathy interventions along with adjuvant chemotherapy in patients who underwent surgery for Adenocarcinoma of the Colon.

Methods: A total of 116 adult patients were randomised in to one of the two groups; the experimental group received naturopathy, Yoga and Dietary interventions and the control group received psycho-social counselling in addition to standard chemotherapy.

Au-Pd bimetallic nanoparticles anchored on α-FeO nonenzymatic hybrid nanoelectrocatalyst for simultaneous electrochemical detection of dopamine and uric acid in the presence of ascorbic acid.

We have found that magnetic α-FeO nanocubes exhibit an intrinsic catalytic activity toward the electrochemical sensing of dopamine (DA) and uric acid (UA) in the presence of ascorbic acid. Au-Pd bimetallic nanoparticles, which act as efficient signal amplifiers, can be attached to the surface of α-FeO particles to further enhance the catalytic electrochemical signals. The one-step synthesized α-FeO@Au-Pd hybrid nanostructure shows significantly well-separated oxidation peaks with enhanced peak currents of DA and UA.

Abstract: This study stresses the key role which can be played by Tannery Fleshing (TF) hydrolyzing probiotic Pontibacter spp. in aqua feed formulation and identifies the probiotic strains in the fish gut capable of enhancing the overall growth and immune responses. Probiotics included are Pontibacter species (Pb) and Bacillus megaterium (BM) wherein Lactobacillus (LB) served as control.

Production of prodigiosin using tannery fleshing and evaluating its pharmacological effects.

Aim: The focal theme of present investigation includes isolation of prodigiosin producing fish gut bacteria, enhancing its production using tannery solid waste fleshing, and evaluation of its pharmacological effect.

Methods: Optimization of fermentation conditions to yield maximum prodigiosin, and instrumental analysis using FTIR, NMR, ESI-MS, TGA, and DSC.

Results: The optimum conditions required for the maximum prodigiosin concentration were achieved at time 30 h, temperature 30°C, pH 8, and 3% substrate concentration.

The electrochemical DNA hybridization sensing of bipolymer polypyrrole and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PPy-PEDOT) nanotubes functionalized with Ag nanoparticles has been investigated. The bipolymer nanotubes are prepared by simple chemical route and silver nanoparticles (Ag) further deposited over the PPy-PEDOT nanotubes to form PPy-PEDOT-Ag nanocomposite films. DNA labeled at 5'end using 6-mercapto-1-hexhane (HS-ssDNA) is immobilized on the PPy-PEDOT-Ag surface to form PPy-PEDOT-Ag-S-ssDNA and hybridization sensing is done in phosphate buffer.

Aims: Assessment of high-density polyethylene (HDPE)-degrading bacteria isolated from plastic waste dumpsites of Gulf of Mannar.

Methods And Results: Rationally, 15 bacteria (GMB1-GMB15) were isolated by enrichment technique. GMB5 and GMB7 were selected for further studies based on their efficiency to degrade the HDPE and identified as Arthrobacter sp.

Glycaemic index of Indian flatbreads (rotis) prepared using whole wheat flour and 'atta mix'-added whole wheat flour.

To compare the glycaemic index (GI) of newly developed 'atta mix' roti with whole wheat flour roti. Eighteen healthy non-diabetic subjects consumed 50 g available carbohydrate portions of a reference food (glucose) and two test foods (whole wheat flour roti and atta mix roti) in random order after an overnight fast. The reference food was tested on three separate occasions, while the test foods were each tested once.
