Augmented superior rectus transposition surgery for vertical strabismus in moebius syndrome.

Introduction: Moebius syndrome is a rare disease characterized by unilateral or bilateral congenital nonprogressive facial nerve palsy along with limitation of ocular abductions. Vertical Rectus Transpositions with posterior fixation suture is known to correct abduction deficiencies in case of Moebius syndrome. Traditionally both superior and inferior rectus transposition are done to prevent any post operative vertical imbalance.

An epidural arteriovenous fistula studied with time-resolved imaging of contrast kinetics (TRICKS) sequence.

We describe the use of time-resolved MR angiography in the diagnosis of cervical epidural arteriovenous fistula before final diagnosis and embolization was achieved by digital subtraction angiography. A 42-year-old woman was referred to us because of headache and dizziness, in addition to radiculopathy of the right superior limb. Angiographic examinations documented a direct high-flow arteriovenous fistula between the right vertebral artery and the cervical epidural venous plexus.

Bony fusion of the maxilla and mandible as a sequelae of noma: A rare case report.

Noma is a gangrenous disease of the orofacial region that leads to severe facial tissue destruction and is a significant cause of death among children. With the advent of modern antibiotics and improved nutrition, children with noma may survive into adulthood, but must face the challenge of undergoing repair of the sequelae of noma. This report describes a case of bony fusion of the maxilla and mandible in a 28-year-old female patient, which was a sequelae of a childhood case of noma.

Unusually large erupted complex odontoma: A rare case report.

Odontomas are nonaggressive, hamartomatous developmental malformations composed of mature tooth substances and may be compound or complex depending on the extent of morphodifferentiation or on their resemblance to normal teeth. The role of time-resolved imaging of contrast kinetics (TRICKS) magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) in the evaluation of head-neck vascular anomalies: a preliminary experience.

Objectives: In this preliminary report, we describe our experience with time-resolved imaging of contrast kinetics-MR angiography (TRICKS-MRA) in the assessment of head-neck vascular anomalies (HNVAs).

Methods: We prospectively studied six consecutive patients with clinically suspected or diagnosed HNVAs. All of them underwent TRICKS-MRA of the head and neck as part of the routine for treatment planning.

Encysted Tenia solium larva of oral cavity: Case report with review of literature.

Cysticercosis is caused by the larvae of the pig tapeworm, Tenia solium. Oral cysticercosis is a rare event and is often a diagnostic challenge to the clinician. We report a 12-year-old girl who presented with a single, painless, nodule on the lower lip that was diagnosed as cysticercosis.

Comparative study of 2 palatoplasty techniques to assess speech and fistula in primary cleft palate patients.

Hemifacial microsomia: a clinicoradiological report of three cases.

Hemifacial microsomia is a congenital malformation in which there is deficiency in the amount of hard and soft tissues on one side of the face. It is primarily a syndrome of first and second branchial arches involving underdevelopment of the temporomandibular joint, mandibular ramus, masticatory muscles, ears and occasionally defects in facial nerve and muscles. Here, we report three cases of hemifacial microsomia diagnosed based on clinical and radiographic findings.

Cleidocranial dysplasia: clinico-radiological illustration of a rare case.

Cleidocranial dysplasia is an autosomal dominant condition caused by mutation of RUNX2, characterized by generalized dysplasia of the bones and teeth. Affected individuals have short stature, atypical facial features, and skeletal anomalies affecting mainly the skull and clavicle. The dental manifestations are mainly delayed exfoliation of the primary teeth and delayed eruption of the permanent teeth, with multiple impacted supernumeraries, and absence of cellular cementum.

Blue rubber bleb nevus syndrome: prominent oral findings.

Blue rubber bleb nevus syndrome is a rare disorder characterized by multiple cutaneous venous malformations in association with visceral lesions, most commonly affecting the gastrointestinal tract. Oral cavity lesions occur in 59 to 64% of cases. We report a unique presentation of this syndrome in a 25-year-old male patient with prominent oral findings.

Pachydermoperiostosis or primary hypertrophic osteoarthropathy: A rare clinicoradiologic case.

Pachydermoperiostosis (PDP) or primary hypertrophic osteoarthropathy is a rare syndrome with diverse radiological and clinical features. Though the diagnosis can be made on the basis of the classic clinical and radiological features, it is often missed due to variable presentations. A case of PDP that presented with dental complaints and had almost all the clinical and radiological features described in literature is reported.

Dental adhesive systems used for bonding dental resins to enamel and dentin have evolved through several "generations," with changes in chemistry, mechanism, number of bottles, application technique, and clinical effectiveness. The trend in the latest generation of dental bonding systems is to reduce the number of components and clinical placement steps. The introduction of i bond, a single-bottle dental adhesive system, is the latest of the new generation materials, and combines etchant, adhesive, and desensitizer in one component.

Synthesis of esculentin-1 antibacterial peptide fragments on 1,4-butanediol dimethacrylate cross-linked polystyrene support.

Peptide segments corresponding to antibacterial esculentin-1 (1-15), (3344), (9-27), and their modified forms were synthesized on 1,4-butanediol dimethacrylate cross-linked polystyrene (PS-BDODMA) support. Hydroxymethyl and aminomethyl 2% PS-BDODMA supports were used for the synthesis. The HMPB linker was appended to the aminomethyl resin using HBTU in presence of HOBt and the first amino acid was incorporated using MSNT.

[Magnetic resonance angiography of the portal vein in liver transplant recipients].

This work was aimed at investigating the diagnostic accuracy of Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA) in the study of the portal vein in liver transplant recipients. Ten patients (7 men and 3 women; mean age: 45 years) were examined 7-180 days after transplantation. The indications to liver transplant follow: post-infective active chronic hepatitis (4 patients), post-alcoholic chronic hepatitis (2 patients), HCC (2 patients), sclerosing cholangitis (1 patient) and primary biliary cirrhosis (1 patient).
