- The study aimed to compare the color and light-transmittance changes of rough and smooth thermoformed retainers made from copolyester and polyurethane after they were stained and then destained.
- Over 800 samples were stained in various solutions for 28 days and then subjected to multiple destaining methods; light transmittance and color changes were measured objectively.
- Results showed that while both materials stained similarly, rough surfaces of materials were more affected by staining and destaining processes, with coffee and tea causing the most significant color changes.
