Background: Blepharoconjunctivitis poses a diagnostic challenge due to its diverse etiology, including viral infections. Blepharoconjunctivits can be acute or chronic, self-limiting, or needing medical therapy.
Aim: To review possible viral agents crucial for accurate differential diagnosis in cases of blepharoconjunctivitis.
Autologous blood therapy has emerged as a promising modality in managing ocular surface disorders. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the current literature regarding the use of autologous blood in ocular surface disorders, encompassing its physiological basis, clinical applications, techniques, challenges, and future perspectives. The ocular surface, comprising the cornea, conjunctiva, and tear film, plays a critical role in maintaining visual function, and its disruption can lead to various pathological conditions.

It involves infiltration of lidocaine with adrenaline to the operative region ensuring a good visual field owing to the vasoconstrictive effects of epinephrine. It has numerous advantages over traditional anaesthetic (TA) for flexor tendon repairs including testing of tendon strength on table as well as immediate revision of the repair if needed.

This study aimed to gather perspectives from immigrants and racialized community members on strategies central to support their mental health and well-being, with the aim of addressing research to practice gaps. The study was co-designed in collaboration with a Community Action Table in Markham, Ontario, a setting with 93% of residents self-identifying as visible minorities.

Methods: Case records of patients who underwent elective cataract surgery at two referral eye hospitals from February 2017-2022 were collected retrospectively. Demographics, preoperative visual acuity (VA), anterior and posterior segment details, intraoperative and postoperative complications, VA at day 1, 1 week, and 1 month postoperatively were analyzed.
Background: A central challenge to closing the mental health treatment gap in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) is determining the most effective pathway for delivering evidence-based mental health services. We are conducting a cluster-randomized, Type 2 hybrid implementation-effectiveness trial across 20 districts of Mozambique called the Partnerships in Research to Implement and Disseminate Sustainable and Scalable EBPs (PRIDE) program. Following training of nonspecialized providers in facilitation of evidence-based treatments for mental health and informed by the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR), we identified how PRIDE compares to care as usual and the perceived barriers and facilitators of implementation and modifications needed for widescale service delivery and scale-up.

Small single-center studies have suggested that patients with PCNSL may be at high risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE). This systematic review aimed to estimate the risk of VTE in patients with PCNSL.

Gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA) is a biocompatible, semi-synthetic polymer prepared from gelatin. When combined with aqueous solvents, GelMA forms hydrogels that have extensive applications in biomedical engineering.

That is, in this project, the potential of using α-phographene (α-POG) both for adsorption and detection of five types of the most important air pollutant gases containing SO, AsH, CFH, NO, and CO species were investigated. The results of the time dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) calculations indicate that during the adsorption of NO, and SO by the sorbent, big redshifts occur (up to 866.

In Europe, several country-based ad-hoc studies have been carried out on COVID-19 vaccines/vaccination and vaccine reluctance but a comprehensive overview covering all 27 European Union (EU27) countries is lacking. Such study can help understand vaccine reluctance in the overall EU as well as examine differences between individual countries.

Our current understanding of the social, emotional, and physical impacts of period poverty on students in post-secondary institutions is largely limited.
Objectives: The purpose of this pilot study is to assess period poverty, period-related class disruption, and avoidance of menstrual hygiene management on campus among students and to identify recommendations for action at the University of Illinois Chicago and other urban universities.
Introduction: Immunoglobulin A (IgA) nephropathy (IgAN) results from abnormal accumulation of immune complexes containing galactose deficient IgA1 (Gd-IgA1) in the kidneys. About 40% of patients develop end-stage kidney disease within 20 years of renal biopsy. At present, the diagnosis and risk stratification of patients (using the international IgAN risk prediction tool) rely on renal biopsy, which is an invasive procedure.

Methods: We selected a random sample of 748 students for ADHD screening from a population of around 43,000 primary school students. The Swanson, Nolan, and Pelham Rating Scale version IV was applied to both parents and teachers.
Introduction: The burden related to smoking exposure is growing in many low-income settings. We aimed to quantify the use of smoked and smokeless tobacco in Mozambique in 2014/2015, and to compare the estimates with those obtained in 2005.
Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted in 2014/2015 on a representative sample of the Mozambican population aged 15 to 64 years, following the World Health Organization Stepwise Approach to Chronic Disease Risk Factor Surveillance (STEPS).
The treatment pattern and outcomes in patients with indolent B-cell lymphoma treated during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic period compared to the prepandemic period are unclear. This was a retrospective population-based study using administrative databases in Ontario, Canada (follow-up to 31 March 2022). The primary outcome was treatment pattern; secondary outcomes were death, toxicities, healthcare utilization (emergency department [ED] visit, hospitalization) and SARS-CoV-2 outcomes.

We conducted a propensity-matched retrospective cohort population-based study of patients treated with R-CVP/CHOP from 2005 to 2012 and patients treated with BR from 2013 to 2018. The primary outcome was 5-year overall survival (OS), and secondary outcomes included toxicities and healthcare utilization.

Much of the literature on virtual care in oncology has focused on solid tumors, and little is known about its application in malignant hematology.
Methods: We performed a retrospective review of patients with hematologic malignancies at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre from October 2019 to March 2021 to determine the use of virtual care during this period, cost-savings associated with virtual visits, and patient satisfaction.
